Radcliff, Kentucky is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky that is the county seat of Radcliff County. The population was 2,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The townsite was laid out by John Saylor in 1802 as a station on the Underground Railroad to Tennessee. In 1812, it became known as "Ridgeville". The name changed again in 1820 to "Radcliff", after James Raddick, who had served as sheriff of Radcliff County from 1800 to 1803 and again from 1815 to 1830. The first store in Radcliff opened in 1840, and by 1860 there were six stores and twenty-two businesses operating there. By 1890, there were ten stores and fifty-six businesses operating in Radcliff County alone. In 1915, William Auld purchased adjoining land for $10 000 which he plan to develop into a city with a population exceeding 100 000 people. However, this idea was never realized because World War I interrupted any potential growth until after World War II when heavy industry began moving into the area including car manufacturing plants and other heavy industrial development that has continued through today's times including aluminum smelters and other light industries not found here during much earlier times due mainly to lack of suitable land close by for such an extensive development project but also because present day transportation facilities are much more sophisticated than they were then making it very difficult or impossible for such an ambitious project even if given enough political backing over time) .

Since its incorporation as a town in 1824, Radcliff has experienced many ups and downs; some of which have been documented through history such as its numerous floods and fire outbreaks that have destroyed homes and businesses throughout its history. However, over time it has slowly regained most of what was lost due to natural disasters or economic factors such as globalization which has led to an increase population size from 511 residents at the 2000 census to 612 residents at the 2010 census
