Hodges made a grant of land to John Witherspoon for $1,000 which formed part of the old Ford lands that later came under Radcliff jurisdiction. In 1827, Josephine Stroud donated land to build a schoolhouse and woman's rights movement leader Abigail Adams organized a Ladies Aid Society which rented space from Mrs. Fenton for $2 per month in 1830. Adams also founded an agricultural society with five members that performed agricultural work on her own farm east of town for one year before it was sold to Mr. Brown in 1839 for $5/acre ( ). The Brown family continued to own and operate their farm until 1958 when it was conveyed by gift from Mrs. Brown to the Radcliffe Foundation as part of its campaign "...to promote educationally disadvantaged children throughout Hardin County." By 1840, there were only six families living in Radcliff while 1½ miles west lived Uniontown with 3 stores and 150 residents total; this store closed down around 1850 due lack of business or competition from larger local merchants -Uniontown developed into today's Main Street village). In 1857 census counted 4 businesses with 149 residents within 2 miles radius - this number increased slightly by 1860 but did not increase past this point due largely because Junctionville prospered well beyondRadcliff boundaries during this time period.). A post office called "Racine" began operation on October 3rd, 1840 (it moved three times between then and 1862) before becoming "Radcliffe".
