The first guns were made in Radcliff, Kentucky in 1851. The first revolver was made there in 1855. The gun barrel was the first item to be manufactured in the town. In 1860, Radcliff became a city and the gun barrel manufacturing process changed from hand-to-hand to machine-tooled. Gun barrels have been produced here since then and are still used today for many purposes including hunting, shooting, and target shooting.

Radcliff is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded by John Radcliffe in 1802 as a log cabin on the edge of a ridge above the present day town. In 1804, he built another cabin further west and named it for his ancestor, Sir Walter Raleigh. By 1825, the village had ten homes and two stores. A schoolhouse and Baptist church were built that year and remain in operation to this day. In 1829, James Ketchum settled in Radcliff and began trading goods with farmers in neighboring counties. He soon opened a store which became one of the most important in Hardin County until it closed its doors in 1907. Other early entrepreneurs include Isaac Green who operated an Implement Store from 1872-1889 and Elijah Willard who raised hay from 1850-1859; both men are buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Radcliff. As hard times came for many small towns during the late 1800s, Radcliff did not follow suit however several prominent men such as Simeon Coolidge (founder of US Airways), Rev Elisha Linton (founder of First Presbyterian Church) and Dr J C Trimble helped to revive the community through donations or investment over time In 1902, when Hardin County was consolidated into Clay County, much of what now makes up Radcliff – including its post office – lay within Clay County limits until 1959 when it became part of Hardin County again . currently also lies within Woodford Co., KY inside old KY county lines

Radcliff is a small town in the Jackson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Radcliff were the McKennitt brothers who arrived from Scotland in 1817. They became farmers and built a cabin on the east side of the river about two miles north of town. In 1820, they moved to what is now the west side of town and acquired some land for development around their home. John McKennitt died in 1824 and his wife, Jane (née Rankin), took over management of their farmstead and family name became Radcliff. The first school in Radcliff was founded by Mrs. Rankin on September 12, 1826 as an academy for white children only. A second school opened on October 2, 1830 with twenty-four students; both schools were operated by Mrs. Rankin’s daughterRachelle (née Cook). The first post office was established at Radcliff on November 8, 1832; it was known as Rankinville until 1800 when it changed its name to Radcliffe after Colonel James Barnes (1786-1835) who donated land for a courthouse and square near present day Lexington. In 1840, prominent local citizen James Wetherbee donated land northwest of town for a dam which would power mills in that area during prohibition times but this project never came to fruition because political differences led to its abandonment following Wetherbee’s death in 1845 In 1865 local resident Nicholas Silliman donated one acre (0.4 ha) northeast of town for use as a market place where goods could be bought or sold without going into debt . This spot eventually became known as Silliman Square . In 1870 Reva Hargrave built her home near present day downtown Lexington upon donating land adjacent to High Street between Elizabethtown Road and McCartney Road which she named “Hargrave Manor” after herself and her husband Revard Hargrave (1819-1884). The couple had three daughters: Alice Addison Hargrave Smith (born December 7, 1863), Maynardine Augusta Hargrave Beal (born January 11, 1865), Nella Wheeler Beal (born March 10th 1865). After her death in 1904 Alice married Drury Covington who lived there until his death also in 1904 . From 1912 through 1916 Mr JB Priest organized[ed] what later became known as Eastern Kentucky Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church at EKWEMC/RADCLIFF with services being held there from June 14th through July 15th each year . During World War I many residents volunteered with various organizations such as American Red Cross including working at recruiting camps located across central Kentucky.. finally closing down due Veterans Affairs Integration Services Centers locations opening up throughout eastern Kentucky during that time period so RADCliff could no longer offer these types of services
