Radcliff is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,593 at the 2010 census. It is the only town in Hardin County. The name "Radcliff" comes from the English word "radar." The first settler in Radcliff was James Capps who arrived in 1800. He named his plat after his friend and mentor, Captain Samuel Rogers of the American Revolutionary War fame. At that time there were no roads into Hardin County and most people travelled by horse or wagon to get to their settlements. James Capps had an oven made out of a logs he gathered for fuel and used it to bake bread for his settlers. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's forces invaded Kentucky and destroyed most of the farms in Radcliff Township including James Capps' oven which still stands today as a museum piece. In 1821, John Couch settled on what is now Main Street in Radcliff. He built a log cabin which still stands today as one of Radcliff's most popular tourist attractions. Couch also ran a mill that produced flour for local merchants and farmers until it closed around 1910%. The post office was established at this location on November 15, 1827 by Order of President George Washington (and others). The first postmaster was Drury Wistar who served until 1830 when he moved to Lexington due to health concerns about living near Jackson's army headquarters during the Mexican-American War . In 1840 David Lane moved from Bardstown to take over operations from Wistar although he never held office because he died young before taking up the challenge After serving as Postmaster for two years Daniel Denny took over on October 1st 1842 until he resigned December 1st due to ill health also going missing within days with no clues found leading up to his death not long after leaving office daniel disney passed away without any children

Radcliff is a town in Campbell County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Radcliff is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1847 by John S. Radcliffe and his wife, Sarah A. Todd. It was named for General Nathan Bedford Forrest, then a general in the Confederate Army and an important figure in the Radcliffe-Todd family's business interests in central Kentucky. In 1853, Forrest granted property to the town on which it stands as a gift from his army friend General James K. Polk. Radcliff became a regional center for coal mining and manufacturing during the late 19th century and early 20th century; its industries included baking powder, cigars (including Old World brands such as Montecristo), printing ink and paper products (especially newspapers), candy canes, bicycles and other toys. The townsspeople built several churches including one dedicated to Stonewall Jackson; also existing are several contributing stores: Grange Store (1853), Livery stable (1857), Hardware store (1862) and Bank of America building (1902). One notable event that took place in Radcliff during this time period was President Woodrow Wilson's visit to Scotland on July 23rd 1916 while attending a peace conference at Kinross House near Perthshire; he stayed there until August 10th after speaking engagements throughout Scotland including tea with King George V . During World War II many local businesses closed their doors due to wartime shortages but few residents lost their jobs because of it; most people were either drafted into military service or worked outside the city limits providing essential goods and services to locals not directly involved with war effort. Many residents returned home once hostilities ended following 1945 though some did stay away for years afterwards due to post-war economic hardships all around them. accessed 4/27/15
