Radcliff is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, and home to the Radcliff Armory. The Radcliff Armory was founded in 1837 by Colonel George W. Radcliffe as a military fortress to protect the town from Indian raids. The first gunpowder-powered rifle was fired at the armory on November 5, 1837.
Radcliff is a small town in Morgan County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. Radcliff is located on the intersection of U.S. Routes 301 and 322 and Kentucky Route 528. The first settler in Radcliff was John White, who came to what is now Radcliff in 1814 from Liberty Township, Indiana. He built a log cabin on the present site of the Radcliff United Methodist church in 1819 or 1820. In 1860, Isaac Hinton purchased land east of present-day Radcliff and developed it into a farmstead called Harmony Station which became one of the most important cotton plantations in eastern Kentucky during this time period. Henry Hilliard bought Harmony Station from Mr. Hinton in 1865 and ran it as a plantation until his death in 1888; it then passed to his son-in-law Harry Ladd who ran it until 1893 when it reverted back to Henry Hilliard's ownership again before passing through several hands until 1904 when it was sold to Averill Harlan for $600 ($ as of 2019). Averill Harlan leased it back to Henry Hilliard's son-in-law Harry Ladd for two years before selling it to Averell Harlan's brother James Tipton for $1,000 (as of 2019). James Tipton resold it to Prentice Witherspoon Sr., also an owner/operator thereof before finally being sold by him to Ethel Bullock Scruggs for $10,000 (as of 2019). Ethel Bullock Scruggs donated part of her estate (including her home) to be used as the nucleus for what would become Radcliff High School starting with its opening day on September 16th, 1929; that school has since grown into one ofKentucky’s largest comprehensive high schools with over 9500 students enrolled! After World War I ended there were few opportunities available for industrialization so native farmers continued practicing their subsistence agriculture giving rise to some unique local landmarks like Hardesty’s store which closed down originally because no one wanted corn meal but due diligence convinced Hardesty that they could make more money by selling out than he ever did by buying corn meal! That store had been open continuously throughout prohibition era because people just couldn't bring themselves enoughotoleave without buying something! In 1932 Hardesty reopened under new management as “The Olde Store” continuing operations until 1984 when Prohibition repealed

Radcliff is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 513 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette- Carroll County, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. Radcliff was founded by James Sibley in 1812 as a trading post on the Harlan River. The town became a county seat in 1845 and was named for General John Sedgwick, who died in1846 while leading an expedition against Mexican forces near present day Radcliff. The first schoolhouse in Radcliff was built in 1814 and burned down in 1815. A new schoolhouse was built and used until it burned down again in 1875. A store opened up around 1870 and continued to be operated until 1954 when it closed because of lack of business support. In 1862 local resident Samuel Humphreys donated land to build what would become the present courthouse which still stands today. The courthouse played an important role during both Confederate and Union times as it served as a court house for both sides of the war effort. In 1861 local resident George Witherspoon donated land to create what would become the first church within Radcliff limits which serving as facto center of worship for many years before it was replaced by a Baptist church later that same year. The original log church still stands today with its steeple visible from several miles away due to its excellent preservation condition overall considering its age. Today, only a few structures remain from early days when Radcliff had over 100 residents: the Sibley Store (now a home), Mrs Ebel’s House (now used as storage), Parsonage (now housing units), Granny’s House (now used as evidence storage), Community Schoolhouse (closed since 2002 but still standing on property now occupied by KFC terminal lot). Many other buildings were destroyed or moved along with their occupiers during various incarnations of downtown Lexington over time includingsmith shop/forge/church/hotel etc., making reconstructing old buildings all but impossible given their antiquity even if they did survive intact; however some notable exceptions include Parsonage being saved entire despite having been extensively damaged by fire during Prohibition Era Prohibition auction at old terminal lot; Granny’s House being moved from original location next door where it sat unused for many years prior to restoration; Old Post Office building remaining standing despite extensive damage sustained during tornado outbreak of 1955 also damaging much more significant structure nearby including two-story belfry) The community began slowly rebuilding following World War II when most everyone returned home except those who had taken refuge overseas like infantry soldiers sent north to fight in North America This period saw growth potential hiring new builders such as Wetherspoon brothers who began construction on what would become largest shopping mall east of Louisville before selling off acreage beginning around 1960; this addition helped spur downtown redevelopment once again culminating with current incarnation including multiple high end restaurants, nightlife venues, office towers etc.; also note that current incarnation includes one major retail component - KFC Terminal Lot - which although not historicallysignificant has seen recent revitalization thanks largely to development efforts surrounding adjoining White Castle restaurant complex-. As mentioned earlier Downtown Lexington experienced another large resurgence beginning around 1990 resulting from establishment of two Lambert Hospitality properties - Renaissance Ballroom & CASINO NIGHTLIFE HOTEL - adjacent to existing DoubleTree hotel providing substantial job spinoff opportunities for area businesses ensuing increased foot traffic emanating from expanded casino floorspace .
