Gun Parts History in Paducah, Kentucky can be traced back to 1871. The first gun in Paducah was a percussion cap revolver purchased by John P. Fenton from J.D. Payne & Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1881, the first store in Paducah sold rifles and shotguns direct to the public. It was called The Rifle Emporium and Shotgun Shop and operated out of a room on Third Street between Elm and Spring Streets. In 1911, Wm Hildebrandt opened his business at 5th and Elm Streets which became known as The Gun Store (later renamed the Pistolsmiths). From 1911-1963, this business handled all gun parts for both law enforcement agencies throughout Kentucky as well as exported firearms to other states including Canada and Mexico. The Gun Store closed its doors for good on October 1st 1963 due to economic reasons but reopened two months later under new management with local handgun manufacturer Jones Firearms still headquartered within the building until it closed again in 1984 after 20 years of continuous operation! Today, Jones Firearms is still operational within the premises along with an adjacent micro-business providing parts for pistols only!

The Paducah pistol was designed in 1892 by George L. Smith and W. H. Offutt, two engineers employed by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The first Paducah pistols were made with a 7-inch barrel and used six rounds of .45 ACP ammunition, which was then the standard for handguns in America. In 1899, Smith and Offutt produced the Model M1 which featured a 10-inch barrel and used nine rounds of .41 caliber ammunition. These firearms were very successful and remain popular to this day.

Paducah, Kentucky was founded in 1795 by the Potomac River Indian tribe. The town was first called Potegachee and then Paducah. It is now known as Paducah, Kentucky's capital city. The river that forms the town's namesake flows through it and provides many of its resources such as water and lumber. The early years of Paducah were difficult for the community because most of its residents were Native Americans who had to work hard to survive in what was a hostile environment. However, thanks to the efforts of some local settlers, including Major General James Wilkinson and his friend David Ritchie, Paducah began to prosper in the late 18th century. One of these men also helped start Paducah's first school in 1798 which soon became an important factor in helping the community develop economically. In 1814, when Union troops arrived at Paducah during their war with Mexico, they found it heavily fortified and decided to abandon it rather than risk being destroyed by Mexican forces. This decision set off a period of rapid growth for the town which saw major improvements both physically and economic- especially after construction began on what is now known as Wilkinson Street Speedway. In 1824, President James Ketchum issued an Executive Order establishing federal territory comprising Hardin County south of Louisville Avenue including present-day Paducah . This order led to increased immigration into Hardin County from all over America due to opportunities opened up by this new land purchase In 1827 (the same year that General Sam Houston Colonel John Fenton sold his interest in what would become Huntsville ), one Samuel White established a flour mill on Main Street near wherepresent day State Capitol building stands today . This milling operation became very successful and provided much needed income for paducaherians during periods of economic hardship . Over time other mills followed suit throughout Hardin County until there was a large enough market for our products within Illinois alone! Thanks again Samuel White!

The town became an important transportation center for the area, and its downtown contains many historical buildings.
