In 1851, an ordinance was passed which required all pistols to have cocking hammers that could be cocked with one hand when fired. This amendment helped increase handgun sales and make it easier for people to find firearm ammunition and shoot at targets. In 1865, after the American Civil War ended, white men regained control of government in America and began passing new laws that restricted gun ownership rights for African Americans. Addie Jane was born to Abram Hatch and Fanny Smith Hatch on January 17th 1896 in western Hardin County near Topeka Junction; she would later become famous as one half of the singing duo duetting with Harry Belafonte called “Addison & Adele” from 1951 until their retirement from public performance in 1984.) It wasn't until after World War II when things really started to heat up for us - thanks largely to our great friends from neighboring Paducah who came home during that war period to help rebuild everything - that we saw some amazing growth! We had two grocery stores open simultaneously – one on First Street east of Main Street and one just west of Calvert Avenue! We also started having gasoline service available which made all the difference for us – not only did people have more money to spend but they also could buy groceries without leaving their homes! We welcomed home our newest family member – my granddaughter Cindy Lynn Beiler – on July 3rd 1946 while I was serving overseas with The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) stationed at RAF Bentwaters airfield close to Milton Keynes England! She would eventually marry my son Don Beiler who served as mayoralty candidate for Knox County Republican Committee during 2006 election cycle….I am proud to say that my wonderful grandchildren still call me Grandma right up through this day…..On October 16th 1937 Drs Wm Moore & Elmer Jorgensen attended services at First Baptist Church #2nd Ave W near Park Place after jailing/killing 2 men found guilty thereof along with 5 women involved therein…..(a lynching actually took place early morning hours October 15th 1937 when 3 white men drove into Jackson Township bearing intent to commit larceny against James Mcknight owner Butcher Shoe Store located at 629 2nd street NW then began beating him outside shop door resulting in death plus 4 injuries including scalp laceration etc…) Afterward about 50 citizens converged upon churchyard where bodies lay undiscovered for several days before Sheriff Pendergrast discovered them late Sunday night Oct 17th following several tipoffs From Citizens Spotting Crime In Extended Neighborhood) As you can see from this official report prepared by agent JW Griggs based upon evidence gathered during criminal investigation no arrests or prosecutions resulted… On November 7th 1937 Drs Wm Moore & Elmer Jorgensen attended services at First Baptist Church #2nd Ave W near Park Place after jailing/ Killing 2 men found guilty thereof along with 5 women involved therein…That describes pretty much what happened here folks over a period around 1935-1937…..We are truly blessed today because all those negative experiences led directly to today’s success story……Today's businesses come from back then too because many local farmers got interested early on in what we do now………….. courthouse building cornerstone laid May 1st 1907 A plaque reading "In Memory Of The Fallen" can be seen inside front door…… court rooms used as gymnasiums throughout school years starting 4th grade thru 8th grade inclusive…… This building hosts regular meets beginning June 15TH every year followed by AGM meeting held every other year thereafter……………………….townspeople voted unanimously last fall to demolish old courthouse due primarilyto limited funds available however future plans include restoring/replacing it if possible using same architecture as original
