Newport is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 21,594 as of the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Jefferson County and one of its five most populous cities by population. Newport is also home to the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. Newport was founded in 1795 by General David Wilkinson as a trading post on the Ohio River between Louisville and Cincinnati. In 1802, it became a town when it was annexed intoJefferson County. In 1825, it was made an incorporated town with a total population of 10,000. The first post office opened in Newport on November 8, 1825. In 1830, Captain John Capps established a ferry service from Newport to Clarksville over the Roanoke River for transportation of goods westward from Kentucky to Virginia. This service ended with his death in 1834 due to yellow fever contracted while working on this project. The first courthouse in Newport was built in 1840 by Judge James Pogue Jnr.. This courthouse burned down in 1908 but was replaced by another courthouse that still stands today (demolished 2009). In 1861, General Sterling Price's army invadedKentucky during the American Civil War and destroyed many homes and businesses within what is now Newport before moving northward into western Jefferson County towards Lebanon Valley Walls where he eventually surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865. Newport experienced some heavy fighting during World War II as part of Allied forces attacking Nazi Germany from Europe through amphibious assaults ashore at Normandy across Narragansett Bay then continuing inland upriver until coming ashore at Dunkirk Peninsula near Weymouth where they were finally evacuated by Landing craft against Enemy Shore Patrols behind enemy lines which lasted all day long because there wasn't any beach available where they could land those boats

With advances in technology including locksmithing tools for unlocking firearms then becoming available throughout North America during about 1800-1800 modernfiresarms originated! A locknut consisting of iron fit into a keyhole bored through one side of each barrel breechblock mounted onto a round buttstock/grip and allowed access to fire without having to remove either part entirely

Newport is a town in Butler County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butler County. The first European settlers in Newport were Englishman Giles and his wife Anne who arrived on the "Fletcher" in 1675. There were also three other families, including that of John Fenton who settled in 1720. By 1760 there were almost 100 people living in Newport and it had a market for goods from Lancaster and many farmers raised crops such as corn, beans, peas and wheat. When the first shot was fired in what is now Kentucky during the American Revolutionary War on April 12, 1775 by Captain James Prentiss of the British Regiment of Dragoons to celebrate their successful landing at Yorktown Beach near Newport Harbor (now known as Virginia Beach), many colonists were killed or wounded including one Mr Fenton who managed to run away with some provisions before being captured by the British forces In 1801 President Thomas Jefferson donated land to be used as a free public school district which included much of what is now Newport. In 1825 this area became part of Butler County when it was organized out of Lawrence County Newport was destroyed by fire on November 14th 1910 while Syncopated Baptist Church was being built across from where it stands today on Fourth Street. The church went up like a cloud and completely consumed all but one building; that building still stands today unharmed although its windows have been shattered multiple times over time Newports post office closed its doors on January 15th 1921 after serving less than 2 years It reopened under new management May 3rd 1922 with Mrs Myrtle Averill appointed Postmistress
Newport was founded by Jameson and John Sevier in 1795. The town was named for the mouth of the river that flowed through it. Newport became a city in 1853, and was renamed Louisville in 1959.
