Knives have been a part of the Murray, Kentucky community for many years. The first knives were made by a man named John Green in 1847. A few years later, he started making daggers and swords. By 1870, there were several knifemakers in the community. One of these knifemakers was named George Withers. He madeosepiscopal knives and other edged weapons. In 1886, Withers died and his son took over the business. At this time, the company became known as Withers Knife Manufacturing Company. The father's sons continued to make knives until 1944 when they merged with another knifemaker to form what is now called Stanley Knife & Tool Company. This company manufactured edged weapons and other household items until 1998 when it merged with another company to form who knows what else? It is currently unknown what will become of Stanley Knife & Tool Company but it is safe to say that their products will continue to be produced in Murray, Kentucky for many years to come!

Murray, Kentucky is a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. It is bordered by Boone County to the north, Hardin County to the east, and Clay County to the south. The population was 9,443 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Murray was first settled by family farmers who grew corn and soybeans. They built log houses on land that they owned or leased from other landowners. In 1881, residents of nearby Winchester were forced out of their homes during a local civil war when Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered there. He then ordered his troops to burn all of Winchester's buildings and cattle before leaving for home. This event is known as The Burning of Lexington. When investors arrived in the early 20th century, they began buying up land in what would become Murray. They built churches, schools and businesses; many still stand today including First Baptist Church which was completed in 1907 and now serves as a museum; East High School which opened in 1925; and Murray Methodist Episcopal Church (now part ofMurray United Methodist Church) which was built in 1922. In 1914, voters approved a $5 million bond issue to build a new courthouse and jail near downtown Murray. The building was completed in 1916 and is now used as a library after being renovated several times over its years of use. The town has been growth since it became an incorporated municipality in 1971 with its own city council system—the first village within Randolph Parish to do so—and its own fire department responded only to emergencies until 2003 when it joined the Randolph Parish Sheriff's Department under one command system with mutual aid responses available 24/7365 under Governor Rod Blagojevich’s Emergency Services Plan (ESP). Today, Murray sees more than 1 million visitors each year from across southeastern Kentucky including 350 from outside of Randolph Parish alone!

However, recent trends have signaled thatMurray may soon experience another period of growth thanks to new development along its borders with neighboring Louisville Slugger Baseball Park and Covington Centers Mall - two highly anticipated retail projects that will help create jobs and further increase economic activity within the community
Murray was founded in 1792 by Captain John Murray and his wife Elizabeth. The community was named after General James Murray, who fought in the French and Indian War. It grew rapidly due to its location on the Kentucky River and its access to markets. In 1814, the town became a county seat with the creation of Murray County. It experienced heavy growth during the 1830s and 1840s due to goldmining operations in nearby Harlan County. The population peaked at over 2,000 in 1851, but declined following the Panic of 1857. By 1910, the population had shrunk to just over 150 people.
