In Mayfield, Kentucky, the town has a rich history of firearms. The first guns in the town were pistols and rifles made by local farmers. By 1814, there were over fifty pistols and rifles in the town. The guns were used to protect the town from raiders and Indians. In 1892, Mayfield became a state capital and gun cases started to be brought in for trials. The cases would often be decided through battle or combat with the weapon used. From 1902 until 1935, all prosecutions in Mayfield were handled by the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. The Second World War began in 1939 and soon after many citizens of Mayfield had their weapons confiscated by the government because they belonged to either political or military organizations involved with war efforts. Many of these citizens did not have valid licenses to own firearms so their weapons were turned over to authorities. In 1945, when it was determined that most of the town’s firearms had been lost during wartime storage practices, Mayor Jeter ordered residents to turn in any old guns they may have lying around their homes or businesses. This order led to some interesting weaponry discoveries as well as new shotguns that had not been seen before in this area. In 1984, a bill was passed into law making it illegal for anyone under twenty-one years old to possess a handgun without a license from an ATF agent or sheriff’s department officer present at the time of purchase/purchase attempt. It also required individuals who possessed handguns within one year prior to enactment of this law must provide an affidavit stating that they had no intent or future use for such weapon other than self-defense inside their home/property only (This requirement was eliminated on July 1st 2006). They named their endeavor the Mayfield Rifle Club. The club’s first meeting was held on October 11th, 1881. At that time, there were only six handguns in the area and no rifle or shotgun stockings. It is interesting to note that this group of gentlemen had little success in purchasing any rifles or shotguns themselves. However, they did manage to secure some pistols from another group who had them laying around. It wasn’t until sometime after this that the club made it its goal to become “the best organization for shooting practice in the community”. On November 3rd, 1882, they organized a pistol exhibition at local high school which drew an attendance of twenty-four individuals. From then on, membership became more stable and easier to come by as people realized how valuable it was for someone interested in practicing firearms skills without having to purchase a firearm outright from a store or individual dealer. This type of event allowed members not only to showcased their skill but also helped generate interest in firearms ownership within the community as a whole – something that would continue into modern times! In 1903, when Mayfield shifted from being an unincorporated community into formally organized government entity under the name of Township Government Number One (TGN 1), one important change took place: guns were now regulated by state law instead of county ordinance! This affected everything from buying and selling ammunition to owning Firearms Identification Cards (FICs). In order for citizens to lawfully own firearms within their township limits (in addition to those already owned by others), they needed an FIC – even if they resided outside town walls! Needless to say, becoming licensed handgun owner became much more complicated and expensive than simply owning one’s personal firearm! A few years later, TGN 1 elected its first Mayor/President – J P Hargrave! Interestingly enough, this man was actually born inside TGN 1 itself… so his connection with guns goes all the way back!! Over time however, other key decisions such as expanding township jurisdiction (which led eventually unto incorporation) and appointing additional officials have been made outside of formal governance proceedings altogether. Mayfield is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Mayfield post office was established in 1852, and became a general store in 1868. The present town hall was built in 1897. The Mayfield school district was organized in 1907. The Odd Fellows fraternity has its chapter house on Main Street in the center of town, and other buildings around it include a Masonic lodge (1870), an opera house (1912), and a Baptist church (1889). In addition to its namesake pond where most people fished until they were taken away by government regulations, Mayfield also boasts two golf courses: one located east of town on High Street and one located west of town near US 112 near the border with Kentucky. In addition to its farmers' markets every Saturday morning since 1972, there are now several restaurants including a Dunkin' Donuts at the intersection of High Street and Route 66.

The Court held that this type of regulation violated the Second Amendment because it discriminated against civilians who had no desire or ability to arm themselves for personal protection. In 1923, the High Court decided Miller v. Illinois (3rd Cir.), holding that states must allow people over 21 years old to purchase rifles and shotguns without having them examined by a doctor before being allowed to sell them. This ruling signaled a shift by the High Court away from strict proscription against possession of firearms by private citizens towards an allowance of open carry within state borders under certain circumstances

Some of the first hard gun cases were prosecuted in the early 1800s. A man named John Brown was arrested for shooting at a group of soldiers near Harper’s Ferry, Virginia in 1859. The soldier who fired the shots that killed Brown was acquitted, and it is said that he may have been justified in doing so because he believed that he was defending himself and his fellow citizens from an attack.

Mayfield was founded in 1814 by General James K. Polk and Colonel John B. Mayfield as a trading post on the Cumberland River. The town grew rapidly, becoming a stop on the stagecoach route from Lexington to Louisville. In 1825, Mayfield became the capital of what is now Kentucky. In 1870, Mayfield was destroyed by fire, which left it with only 10 residents. However, the town quickly rebuilt and regained its status as a commercial center. When Kentucky seceded from the United States in 1861, Mayfield remained an important Union military base until 1862 when it was evacuated. After the war, Mayfield continued to grow and become a major cultural center for central Kentucky until around 1930 when it began to decline due to population growth in surrounding settlements and declines in business activity. By the early 21st century, however, mayfields had regained some of its former prominence as a tourist destination while continuing to experience modest population growth overall due to steady suburban development outside of its boundaries

Mayfield was founded by Capt. John Mayfield in 1806. The first post office was established in 1809. In 1830, the town had a population of 350 people and it became a city in 1854.
