Airguns have been around since the 1800s. In Madisonville, Kentucky in 1892, my great-grandfather built the first airgun shop in this area. It was called the Gun Shop of Mr. Wigglesworth and it was located on Second Street between Market and Lexington Streets. The purpose of the Gun Shop was to provide customers with quality airguns at affordable prices. Airguns were commonly used for target shooting, hunting small prey, or just enjoyed by individuals who wanted to experience a little bit of history and excitement with their firearms!

Madisonville is a small town located in Bourbon County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The original Madisonville site was laid out in 1813 by John Green and James Ladd as a post office on the Watauga River. In 1830, it became the county seat of Bourbon County. The first courthouse in Madisonville was built in 1839. Two years later, a new courthouse and jail were constructed on the square northwest of downtown. The first school in Madisonville was opened in 1836 by Reverend Elijah Howe and his students from Georgetown University. A store and two frame homes were built near West Main Street around 1840-1850. A flour mill was started about 1850 by John Bigham, who named it after his father-in-law, Jesse Bowman (1788-1851). By 1865, all farmland within what is now downtown Madisonville had been developed for housing purposes; however retail stores continued to be open until 1969 when the last store closed its doors. In 1870, residents voted to incorporate as a city; however it never happened because no one wanted to leave their larger home base on West Main Street where they felt comfortable and could do business easily with friends and family members nearby. In 1911, Judge Prentice Hecht donated land north of downtown which became meeting space for the Board of Education before becoming an educational complex known today as Hecht Park Elementary School District No 2A which includes Head Start children through eighth gradeindergarten up into high schoolageddon Ithaca High School The post office closed at noon on Friday January 14th 1969 due to lack of mail volume that year only being delivered twice weekly due to competition from UPS/FedEx/USPS/DHL etc.. DowntownMadisonville then reverted back to its pre-post office days with residents delivering mail off street pickups or hand deliver if available) On Thursday November 7th 1984 another annex went up next door called "Sherwin Annex" after long time resident Art Sherwin who also did most everything related to keeping things running such as lawn care & painting during those early years including hiring help when needed during prohibition
