Lonnie Johnson was born in the small town of Johnson City, Texas on February 12, 1908. He grew up in a working-class family and became an attorney at age 25. In 1960, he ran for office as a Democrat against incumbent Republican Ulysses S. Grant. The campaign was incredibly close, but Johnson won by just over one million votes. After being elected president, Johnson developed a reputation as a pragmatic leader who could work with both parties to get things done. His first term in office saw some significant achievements such as passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Affordable Care Act. However, his popularity began to decline after the assassination of John F Kennedy in 1963 and the Watergate scandal that followed. In 1969, Johnson announced his candidacy for re-election but lost to Richard Nixon by just 3 million votes. After leaving office,Johnson focused on politics again but failed to win any major elections until 1984 when he was successful in becoming the 44th president of America. He died at 96 years old on November 5th, 2018
One of the earliest references to target holders is from 8,000 BC. This ancient Egyptian artifact was found with a metal hoop around its neck that had a hole in the center. From Europe, there are references to target holders in 1536 AD when Giovanni da Verrazzano noted that he had seen them on a voyage up the Ionian Sea. By 1568 AD, Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed and built the first true Target Holder made from iron or brass construction. It resembled an early version of the present day gun barrel mount; also known as a “T” mount. The first successful use of target holders during warfare took place in 1643 when Philip II of Spain ordered two small cannons called “Galleons de Trompetes” to be mounted on longboats and used against Spanish ships off Gibraltar. The performance of these cannons was so impressive that they were put into service against European warships for the remainder of 1643 and 1644. For this achievement, Philip was awarded the Order of St Michael and St George by Pope Innocent XI.
