Polk ordered an expansion of Fort Donelson and renamed it Fort Knox. This addition to the fortifications added significantly to its defensive capabilities. From 1828 until 1861, there were sporadic Indian Attacks in this part of Kentucky that led to increased security efforts at Fort Knox by both Federal and Confederate soldiers alike. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln ordered all military forces within 3 miles of Louisville be disbanded including Ft Knox which again contributed to heightened security measures around town. During World War II, there were several attempts by Japanese forces to take over Lexington, KY from the United States via air raids and landings during 1942-1943. These operations resulted in one death and dozens injuries among civilian residents who tried to resist; however, no major damage was done beyond minor flooding throughout downtown areas that occurred as a result of bomb destruction caused by Allied bombers flying overhead during these raids. After World War II ended, much progress was made towards restoring peace within our Nation through gun control legislation following events such as Las Vegas massacre ( October 1st 2017). However, recent incidents such as Parkland school shooting ( February 14th 2018) have called for increased vigilance when it comes to self defense weaponry usage across America’s communities

After World War II ended, LBJ worked his way up through Congress to become Vice President of the United States in 1964. During his time as President, he helped pass landmark legislation such as The Civil Rights Actof 1968 and The Voting Rights Actof 1965. Additionally, he signed into law Medicare and Medicaid expansions which helped millions of Americans receive healthcare coverage. In 1969, LBJ was elected Vice President again and served until 1974 when he succeeded John F Kennedy as President of the United States. As president, LBJ pursued aggressive Cold War policies that included increasing military spending and expanding American involvement in various international treaties such as NATO and Vietnam. He also presided over a period of economic growth which led to increased income for many people across America. Overall, LBJ is considered one of history's most successful presidents with numerous accomplishments throughout his career including being named Time Magazine's Person Of The Year four times (1965-1968; 1974-1982; 1988-1991).

L. Johnson was born in the town of Montgomery, Alabama on November 4, 1848. Johnson's father, a prosperous planter and attorney, died when Lyndon was only six years old. He lived with his mother and two sisters until he was 14 years old, when his mother married a white lawyer and moved to the small town of Prairie View A&M in Texas. There LBJ began high school and then served three months in the Confederate army during the Civil War for reasons that are still unknown. After the war ended, he returned home to Prairie View A&M and studied law at Sam Houston State University before running for office as a Democrat in 1912. Johnson won election to the U.S. Senate from Texas in 1964 but lost renomination in 1966 by wide margins due to opposition from southern Republicans who felt he had not done enough for their state since leaving Congress. In 1970 Johnson ran for president but lost to Richard Nixon by narrow margins. He retired from public life and died on April 25, 1973

Lyndon was founded in 1812 by General John C. Fremont and his wife, Julia. The site of the new town was a piece of land that had been donated by General Fremont to the townspeople. The first settler in Lyndon was David Humphreys, who built a cabin on the current site of Lyndon in 1814. The first store in Lyndon opened its doors in 1816. In 1830, the population of Lyndon slightly surpassed 100 people and began to build homes. The first school opened in 1827 and continued operation until 1902. In 1865, Lyndon became part of Henderson County and was renamed after President Andrew Johnson. It remained an unincorporated community until it split off from Henderson County in 1907 when it became its own parish within the larger Parish of Lexington-Fremont. In 1912, Lyndon experienced its most serious incident when two men were killed while working on a farm near the town limits: one by accident while he was driving horses to market, and the other accidentally as he attempted to unlatch a gate from his barn during harvest time. The next year saw significant growth as residents started developing their businesses around local farms and mills; this led to increased traffic along what is now US Route 64 (the present day highway) which crossed over into Lyndon from Henderson County for passage through central Kentucky
