Lyndon, Kentucky is a small town in Johnson County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded in 1851 by the merger of two settlements: Redding and Bellefontaine. The population was 1,352 at the 2010 census. He believed that it was important to get tough on crime and make sure that everyone had access to quality education and healthcare. Johnson also wanted America to be more internationalized so that we could compete with other countries without feeling guilty about it. In 1968, Johnson announced his candidacy for president of the United States and won by defeating Richard Nixon by over 50 million votes. The election marked the first time that Americans had ever given their consent to one man running for president from among them (as well as being one of only two major political revolutions in U.S history). Johnson quickly proved himself as an effective leader, implementing programs such as Medicare and Medicaid which helped reduce poverty and create jobs across many different sectors of society. He also signed landmark legislation such as affirmative action legislation which favored African Americans over other groups in order to secure their place within society (this policy is still used today). Lyndon was born in Lamar, Kentucky on October 12, 1881. He was the son of Jesse A. and Lucy Lyndon. In 1906, he married Jane Flanders and they had one child before divorcing in 1914. From 1915 to 1927, he served as a U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 3rd District. He then represented Louisiana's 2nd District from 1927 to 1931 and 1933 to 1937. After his service in Congress, he became an Ambassador to the United Nations from 1951-1957 and then Governor of Louisiana from 1957-1963. He died on May 14, 1964 in Houston, Texas after a long illness
