Lonnie Lyndon was born on July 4, 1913 in Lyndon, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army during World War II and then became a U.S. Representative from Kentucky from 1953 to 1963. In 1961, he became the first African American to be elected president of the United States, and he held that office until his death on November 22, 1964.
