After World War II ended, much of this manufacturing activity changed focus to becoming service businesses such as Johnson & Johnson (now J&J), Kellogg’s cereal company (now KFC) and Mastercard international headquarters which opened up in downtown Lexington just east of Interstate 65. Today much of this old industrial infrastructure still exists but has been redeveloped into new neighborhoods such as Midtown Lexington which contains some of the most successful restaurants and nightlife districts around including Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store - one of only two stores inside Mall Of America - Macy’s Studio City mall - Barnes & Noble bookstore chain headquarters - UPS Ground Zero Pizza restaurant - Allstate Automotive Laboratory

In 1865, following the surrender of Confederate General Robert Ewell at Appomattox Court House, Lexington reverted to Union control as part of Reconstruction South Carolina After World War II ended with Japan's surrender in 1945, Lexington experienced rapid growth due to postwar demand for housing and businesses associated with post-war reconstruction efforts such as education and medical advances facilitated by federal grants called "Breadwinner's Tax." From 1950 until 1961, it had one ofKentucky's highest per capita incomes because many blue-collar workers moved into town while their families remained rural; this decade also saw major development around downtown Lexington including new shopping centers and office buildings completed or started along Broadway near Christmastime Avenue
