In 1829–30 Daniel Boone visited Lawrenceburg while exploring new frontiers in western Kentucky and made sketches of many structures he had seen during his exploration including what would become lawrencburgjunctionalhighschool (now known as Middle Tennessee State University). When he returned east he reported these sketches to his friend George Rogers Clark who forwarded them on to Ulysses S. Grant who recommended they be built at Harrods Ferry which eventually became Harrods Castle about two miles downstream from where today’s lawrenceburghrestaurantstands adjacenttotheFultonriverfrontwalk。 After Robinson’s death in 1847 local businessman Benjamin Goodloe acquired some acreage south of downtown Lawrenceburg and began development into what is now Goodloe Park which included a flour mill, Hardee’s restaurant and other commercial buildings that remain standing today>. On Christmas night 1865 about 150 armed men used axes and rifles to break into homes and slaughter all inside before fleeing back into eastern Kentucky .. About 175 children were massacred or captured during this event making it one of America's worst slave trading massacres A fire destroyed Appleford House in 1886 so David Steele rebuilt it at 9 Main Street which he called "Old Town". From there until 1903 he served as Mayor of Lawrenceburgh David Steele died on February 28th 1902 aged 86 years old
