Lawrenceburg is a small town in McCracken County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,686 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Cumberland River. Lawrenceburg was founded in 1830 by settlers from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The first store and post office were founded here in 1831. Lawrenceburg became an incorporated city in 1907. In 1925, it merged with nearby Lebanon to form a new city named after Lawrenceburg founder David Capps. The town of Lawrenceburg sits on the banks of the Cumberland River opposite Lebanon and just east of the confluence of the rivers Kentucky and Ohio which forms Cumberland Lake. The setting is picturesque: rolling hills rising to valleys that are thickly forested with oak trees; wide lakes or reservoirs framed by high bluffs; and tall mountains visible from many places around town including surrounding rural areas The name "Lawrenceburg" may be derived from "Lancaster", Pennsylvania where many of these early settlers came from There were two other towns established here before Lawrenceburg got its start: Lebanon (founded 1824) and Mount Sterling (founded 1828). These towns didn't share common boundaries until they merged into one municipality in 1907 when their populations reached 100% . When merger happened there were 4 different stores/post offices open within radius of each other- 2 closest to each other then 3 further away- but now all have been closed down & constituting what used to be called “the central business district” no longer exists today due to population growth inside the downtown area only! Today you will find only 1 physical store still standing within downtown area named “Robes Hardware” which has been closed for years now & functions as a hotel now! Other than that everything else has either been torn down or moved out closer to Interstate 65 !! Larry Robes was original owner/operator of this store back when it operated as a hardware store prior to becoming an iconic restaurant known throughout KY for its delicious Crawfish bisque gravy dish!!!!nowadays you can find nothing close by similar even remotely resembling that recipe!!! In short- once again our long gone oldtown Lawrenceburgh experienced multiple changes over time yet remains unchanged today thanks largely to its namesake who left such an imprint on it

Lawrenceburg is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky, located on the eastern edge of the county of Campbell. The population was 1,584 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by General John Catton in 1792 as a post office called Clintonburgh after his victory over British general Robert Erskine at Monmouth Court House on November 18, 1792. The name honor General Catton's wife, Lady Elizabeth Grant (1760-1838), daughter of George Grant, 2nd Viscount Castlereagh and niece of James Francis Grant, 1st Viscount Palmerston. Lawrenceburg became an incorporated town in 1855 and its first mayor was Elijah McFarlane (1821-1901). In 1852, Lawrenceburg was the site of one of two slave rebellions in Kentucky that year; the other occurred in Bardstown. In 1865, it became home to Confederate forces during the American Civil War; Union troops burned down many homes and businesses as they moved into what is now downtown Lawrenceburg to take control of what had become Confederate headquarters and stores. Afterward, much reconstruction took place including restoration or construction of many destroyed buildings from which various businesses derived their start: A&P grocery store (now Macy's); First National Bank; Masonic Lodge #1 (now United Christian Fellowship Church); Post Office building #2; jail (now used as a community center) After Reconstruction ended with President Andrew Johnson's proclamation that all white South Carolina citizens must leave within three months or face military occupation, most families left for North Carolina where labor opportunities were available on plantations there before returning to Kentucky around 1880 when race began becoming an issue again in Kentucky politics The current downtown area began developing along High Street in Downtown Lawrenceburg when Mayor David Gentry opened up Richard & Sons Piano Store on Main Street adjacent to then Mockingbird Lane apartments which later became known simply as "The Place" In 1907–08 attorney JL Beattie started Construction Management Company which developed several large industrial projects such as gas stations/pizza places etc., among others throughout central KY culminating with establishment of Paintsville Paper Mills near present day Zionsville Currently LECOM plans are underway for demolition/construction starting this fall once local funds have been raised
