The town grew rapidly after World War II as industry expanded into new areas withinMarshall County; however, it has been slowly losing population since then due to competition from other towns and cities in eastern Kentucky such as Frankfort and Hopkinsville]. In 2000, Jeffersontown had 1,824 residents; by 2010 that number had decreased to 1,521.[1]
