Jeffersontown is a town located in the central part of Kentucky, about twenty miles northeast of Louisville. It was founded in 1825 by General James Jefferson and has been inhabited since that time. As a small community, Jeffersontown was often at odds with larger neighbor towns because its residents were interested in hunting rather than farming. But over the years, Jeffersontown's residents have come to appreciate their shooting opportunities and support the local Rifle and Pistol Club. In 1875, Johnnie Barger bought land adjacent to what is now Jeffersontown for use as a rifle range. From this point on, the range became an important part of the community as it allowed people from all around Jefferson County to shoot at targets. The club also built other facilities in the area, such as a swimming pool and tennis courts. In 1954, the club purchased land east of town and began constructing a modern shooting range. Today, Jeffersontown boasts one of the most comprehensive ranges in Kentucky – with more than 350 acres of open ground available for shooters to practice at any time of day or night. The history of shooting target holders goes back much further than just Jeffersontown; many similar organizations have been created throughout Appalachia over the years to promote firearms education and safety among young people. However,Jefferson County Rifle & Pistol Club is perhaps unique because it has continued to grow even while other communities have disappeared or changed their affiliation with it - largely due to its dedication to providing an enjoyable experience for all who attend its meetings and events!

Jeffersontown is a small town in Clay County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,542 at the 2010 census. Jeffersontown is located on the banks of the Ohio River. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1810 by John Jeffers and his family. The original name of the town was "Johnstown". It changed its name to "Jeffersontown" in 1828 after John's father, James Jeffers, became a U.S. Senator from Kentucky and helped rename the town after himself and his brother-in-law, Alexander McGillivray Jeffers Jr., who had emigrated from Scotland four years earlier. In 1836, $1 million were raised for an Indian Removal Act project that would remove all Native Americans living within three miles (5 km) of Louisville—or any other location chosen by Congress—in what became known as The GreatKentucky Push. Only about 700 people lived in Jeffersontown at that time; most had departed for new homes or businesses along the frontier since President Andrew Johnson ordered the Removal in 1839. The last European American to live in Jeffersontown proper was Anna Bogan on October 14th, 1957 when she left her home with her dog to cross over into Canada with her grandson Pee Wee Hogan during The Invasion of Canada series episode which aired on CBS television network on October 15th 1957 United States/Canada Border Patrol officials closed off both ends of US Highway 66 just south of Anna Bogan's farmstead because they believed Canadian soldiers were preparing to invade America via this roadblock

Jeffersontown is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky, located about 15 miles (24 km) southwest of downtown Louisville. Jeffersontown was founded in 1813 by General James Jefferys and his family, who named it for their home on the Potomac River in Virginia. It became a coal mining community during the 19th century and its population grew rapidly during the 20th century, reaching 100,000 by 1940. The decline of coal mining and other industrial activities in the late 21st century hastened the town's decline, but it remains a rural community with high concentrations of elderly residents and children. The first settler in what is now Jeffersontown was Captain John Fenton, who arrived on horseback from Richmond County in 1792. He built a cabin near where present-day Jeffersontown sits on November 11, 1813. A post office called Fentonville was established here on December 1, 1814, and remained in operation until 1865. In 1815, General James Jefferys moved his family to this area from nearby Henderson County because he saw potential for rich coal deposits near his new home on the Potomac River. By 1860, almost all of eastern Kentucky had been explored and laid claim to by Major General George Washington Hill as part of his Indian Removal Policy regime; consequently, onlyJeffersontown remained unclaimed territory withinKentucky until 1870 when it became part of newly organized Jefferson County following an act of Congress approved February 14th,- thereby becoming one of 83 counties in Kentucky created via legislation that year alone The first commercial mine opened at Jeffersontown Mines Company No 2 (now known as Patriot Coal) on October 16th,- making it one of only two mines openacoppermines westof Appalachia at that time In addition to its role as an important center for coalmining throughout most of the 19th century*,Jeffersontony retained some degree ocommerce well into into the 20th century thanks to several local entrepreneurs* such as Wm Hargrave*, Harry Crenshaw*,and Charles Goodyear*. These entrepreneurs developed businesses including stores,, restaurants,,and travel agencies throughout much or centralJefferson county*despite not having any direct connection to either coalmining or agriculture* *This history is further detailed below.. A primary factor which helped support these businesses was Louisville’s growing population; while many residents still lived close to their homes relatedto their subsistence farmingoperations*, more people began traveling awayfrom Lousiville for work startinginthe early20century*. This migration had a significant impact bothonlocal business owners*who were forcedto compete against larger rivals outsideof their core markets*as well ason everyday life patterns withinthe townsitself *. For example**oneindian restaurant employee recalledLousiville being “a very big city full opeople” but life being “much more simple back then if you could afford takethe train [to] get your dinner” *emphasis added
