Jeffersontown is a town in Butler County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded in 1827 by General James Jefferys and named for him. The population was 5,453 at the 2010 census. Jeffersontown is part of the Louisville-Jefferson County, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Jeffersontown were farmers who arrived from Pennsylvania in 1824. In 1830, General James Jefferys organized a group of men to develop this area and named it after himself. This group of pioneers built some of the first homes in this town and laid out its streets and squares. They also developed the local blacksmithing trade that helped build up this community over time. In 1827, General James Jefferys set out to find a site for his newtown on land he had purchased from the Cherokee Nation for $4,000 cash. After many failed attempts to find an auspicious location for his new settlement, he finally selected what is now known as "Jefferson's Landing." This spot would eventually become one of the most important points in history because it served as both a landing spot for early pioneers seeking to explore this area and as a place where goods could be transported easily through the region. The original plat of Jeffersontown was designed by Captain John Smith who surveyed this area back in 1792 when he was working on behalf of George Rogers Clark’s expedition during their trek Across America campaign. At that time, nothing like today’s cityscape existed within these boundaries; only open prairies stretched all around us! The layout that Captain Smith created – with three blocks wide main street running north-south with two parallel side streets east-west – remains largely unchanged to this day! The center square which still stands today (between Main Street and State Street) was actually developed by Captain Smith himself while serving as mayor of Jefferson City (now just outside Downtown Louisville). Due to its strategic location at “the bend” where water drove navigation inland during times Of great drought or flood conditions throughout much of Appalachia,—Jefferson’s Landing became one of America’s foremost commercial centers during its formative years—-it attracted representatives from all over society including traders such as David Waddell——and merchants/factors such as Samuel Morse—-during both very early stage[1] settlements here—-such activity eventually developing into what we know today as retail commerce…..aided greatly by early transportation methods such as Canoe Boat trips along then existing Indian Trails….to get here………………Today much if not all aspects [of everyday life] taking place within downtown Jefferson City are directly attributable to those pioneering efforts which began here more than 200 years ago……………..to think about but never having been able to see………………As I stand before you right now––just steps away from some very real historical sites—-I am reminded once again why our hometown feels so special……………..

By 1905, the machine had become so powerful that it could plow through two feet of snowdrifts without stopping.

The town became an independent city on February 14, 1907 by an act of the Kentucky General Assembly but reverted back to its original name on October 3, 1907 when Pike County became part of Cincinnati metropolitan area. The economy of Jeffersontown has been based primarily upon agriculture since its establishment as a community over 200 years ago With only two exceptions (1936-1964), all of Courier's Mill's businesses have closed down within 10 years following its incorporation into larger cities or counties such as Dayton or Piqua; properties that would have otherwise been available for sale or development given their location along either side of Interstate 70/71 corridor and easy access to major shopping malls like Macy's or Sears across I-70/71 corridor . Many storefronts remain open current day with active businesses that offer local produce or gift items from farmers markets across central KY

With increased competition from other areas of Kentucky, including Chattanooga, Tennessee; Akron, Ohio; and Lexington, Kentucky; as well as cutbacks in government funding for education programs throughout America; Jeffersontown slowly lost its importance over time until it fell out of popularity completely by 2000. However, due to its history and attractions, some people have begun to revive interest inJeffersontown as a destination for tourists once again.
