Jeffersontown, Kentucky is a small town located in the Eastern Panhandle of Kentucky. It was founded by loggers in 1855, and has since been home to a number of gun cases. The first case in Jeffersontown was a shooting that took place on November 8, 1855. A group of men were hunting game near the town when they were attacked by three men. One man shot and killed the other two attackers, before turning and running into town. The gunman was never found and no one knows who he was or what he wanted with the guns. In 1865, another shooting occurred in Jeffersontown when several men were hunting deer outside the town limits. One man shot and killed two others before fleeing into town. No one ever determined who committed this crime or why they did it. In 1927, another shooting took place in Jeffersontown when three people were playing poker at an old abandoned mansion. Two of the players died from gunshot wounds while the third survived but was injured. This case is known as The Gun House Shooting because it is considered to be Louisville’s first homicide victim caused by gunfire play-by-play radio show contestants (the three gunmen had been playing blackjack). The most recent instance of gun violence to occur in Jeffersontown happened on February 14th, 2019 when four people were shot inside an apartment complex near the community center afterargument over money owed for rent escalated into gunfire. Three people survived; however, one person sustained critical injuries which required surgery later that day.

The first store in Jeffersontown was built by John Jeffers on May 7, 1830. The store operated until January 9, 1861 when it burned down due to a lightning strike. A new store was built on Main Street in 1854 and continued operation until 1955 when it also burned down. Jefferson Hospital opened its doors on October 15, 1898 as one of the first hospitals in America with an exclusively pediatric wing and today still serves patients from Jefferson County with various medical conditions including cancer and heart disease . As one of only a few remaining small towns left within Johnson County after consolidation of all local government into the Johnson County Government entity in 2000-2001 led to many closures or moves away from rural populations that had relied upon those communities for essential services such as grocery stores (Grocery Outlet) or other basic needs like schools (Jefferson High School), there has been much discussion about whether or not Jeffersontown should remain independent but opinions seem evenly divided with most residents tending towards keeping their community intact while others have taken up arms against what they see as unnecessary government intrusion into their personal lives
