After that battle, Jefferystown slowly regained its civil government until 1870 when it reverted back to Donelson County government under Postmaster Wm Hargrave Jackson . In 1903-04 local voters approved annexation by Louisville which resulted in a new city being formed calledJeffersonville but it never materialized due to lack of population growth or development withinJeffersonville itself .
