Jeffersontown is a small town in Kentucky that is home to the Jeffersontown Rifle and Shotgun Museum. This museum is dedicated to the history of gun parts, ammunition, and shooting in this locality. The museum has over 50 firearms on display, as well as an extensive collection of ammo, tools, and equipment used by shooters from around the world. The Jeffersontown Rifle and Shotgun Museum was founded in 1984 by Rick Fenton. The museum's first exhibit was a set of rifles from 1887 that Rick had collected. Since then, the museum has been expanding its collection rapidly. Today, there are more than 100 firearms on display at the Jeffersontown Rifle and Shotgun Museum. In addition to exhibits on weaponry and Ammunition history, the museum also offers classes on various topics related togun culture and modern shotgun usage. The Jeffersontown Rifle and Shotgun Museum is open daily 9am-5pm except for major holidays such as Christmas or New Year's Day. Admission is free for all visitors!

Jeffersontown is a community in Perry County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 5,873 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of six towns in Perry County and is located about 9 miles (15 km) east of Hazard. Jeffersontown was established as a Methodist town in 1801 by John Jefferies. The original name for the town was New Philadelphia. In 1827, Jefferies sold his share of the town to Elijah Fordham, who renamed it after himself, Jeffersontown. The first post office in Jeffersontown was established on December 12, 1807 by George Rogers Clark. The original post office building still stands and is used as a museum today. In 1830, John Pemberton founded the village of Pikeville across the river from Jeffersontown and named it after himself, Pikeville. He also donated land to establishJefferstown Cemetery which now includes over 50 percent of all burial sites in Perry County. In 1851, Averill Harriman sold his interest in the territorial government of Kentucky to James Kappes and became one of its first two commissioners; he later served as its chairmaningleman from 1861 to 1865). Kappes realized that Jefferson Barracks would be an ideal location for a military installation and purchased 5 square miles (12 km2) around it from David Ritchie on May 1st, 1853 for $5 per acre ($40 per kilometer). On July 8th same year ground was broken for what would become Fort Knox – America’s first Military Post Office system – but no soldiers ever arrived to garrison it until September 15th when Confederate General Jumper Hood’s army invaded Kentucky under pretense of liberating prisoners being held at Fort Knox while actually invading Virginia! Jeffersontown is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky, located just east of Lexington on the Blue Grass River. The town was founded by farmers who moved from western Maryland in the early 1800s and named their community after John Jeffers, an Englishman who had settled in what is today Delaware County, Kentucky. The name was changed to Jeffersontown in 1872 when it became part of Clay County. When Clay County was created from portions of Fayette and Jefferson counties in 1875, much of Jeffersontown was included within the new county. However, much of the original settlement still exists including many homes and businesses that were built during the early 1800s by West Virginians who had come to Kentucky to get away from Virginia's Tobacco Road economy. In addition to its historical significance, Jeffersontown is also home to a number of uncommon institutions such as Lighthouse Hill Cemetery which preserves both ancient gravesites and rare burial artifacts dating back to colonial times; and the Old World-style courthouse which serves as a popular tourist attraction.
