Jeffersontown is a small town in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first guns in Jeffersontown were shotguns and rifles made by local resident Major John Pritchett. Jeffersontown quickly became popular for its gunsmithing and rifle manufacture capabilities, which helped make it one of the most prominent firearm towns in Kentucky. In 1869, lead ammunition factory owner James A. Higginson moved his business to Jeffersontown from Manchester, England after experience with good quality British products led him to believe that American firearms could be equal or even better than those produced in Great Britain. Jeffersontown grew rapidly during the late 19th century as more and more people arrived here to work in the Leadville Mining Districts around Louisville and Lexington. By 1900, Jeffersontown had become an important center for firearms production in western Kentucky due to its location on a main shipping route between Louisville and Nashville and its close proximity to major manufacturing plants such as Higginson's ammunition factory and Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1905, Jeffersontown was selected as the site of the new United States military Ammunition Plant (later renamed USAMUNY). This plant would play an important role in both World War I and World War II because it provided munitions for both sides of those wars. The plant also played a key role in building up America's munitions supply throughout much of the Cold War era thanks to its contributions to Project Paperclip, which aimed to import arms into Europe through agents like Felix Sater - who later became known as "the godfather" of Russian intelligence - by smuggling weapons into America through Jefferson Parish (Louisiana). During much of this time period there were two primary types of AR-15 upper receivers being built: Romanian-built receivers which were used by Ulysses S Grant's army during World War I;and standard magazine models manufactured by Colt Manufacturing Company using parts imported from Germany via Project Paperclip. Both types continued to be built well into the early 21st century until production stopped entirely around 2006 due largely to bans placed on certain types of ammo following Operation Neptune's Spear - specifically depleted uranium rounds that were used extensively within NATO forces within Yugoslavia during that time period

These plants were used to produce munitions such as tanks and artillery pieces despite being outside of any city limits at that time; this allowed people living near plant entrances (such as those near Plant G) access to these products without having their homes destroyed or damaged during war-time bombings raids which commonly took place throughout eastern Kentucky including JefferonsountOWN!
