Hopkinsville is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,487 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Hardin County. Hopkinsville was founded in 1827 and named for General Andrew Hopkins. The original post office was established in 1829. The town contains two churches: the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Baptist Church. The Hopkinsville Paper Mill was built in 1892 by J.P. McConnell and his son John McConnell II on a stream near what is now Hopkinsville High School. The mill produced paper until it closed its doors in 1978; however, remnants of the mill remain today as part of the Old Fourth Ward Neighborhood Park located across from Hendrickson Middle School on Main Street between Old Hickory Road and 3rd Avenue North. In 1911, Gussie Ladd opened her first grocery store in Hopkinsville which became one of the largest stores west of the Allegheny Mountains before it closed its doors about 20 years later due to competition from larger stores east of Interstate 70 (the current site of Walmart). Ladd also operated a post office from her store until about 1930 when that service relocated to nearby Danville because postal services were privatized at that time. In 1935, Phebe Botts opened her first restaurant west of Cincinnati - she would eventually open over 100 restaurants throughout KY alone! She also ran an insurance agency out of her shop until 1960 when she sold it all to Gulfstream Resources Corporation for $1 million dollars ($ as of 2019). In 1957, Tom Dooley started a business importing hogs and other farm animal products from Illinois into Hardin County where he stored them on his property until he decided to sell them some time after World War II began so that he could focus on running his agricultural business full-time instead (Dooley's Hogs still operates today as a family-owned operation out of their original location adjacent to Bardstown Regional Airport). After several years with no success at selling these new animals off completely (due largely to changing tastes among American consumers), Dooley invested some money into marketing research which led him finallyto create "The Hog Farmer" magazine which became one of Louisville's most popular weekly newspapers during this time period (Dooley continued operations as an editor/publisher until 1984). He died suddenly within weeks after winning an annual cancer awards banquet shortly after receiving it - thus ending what may have been another long-standing local industry dynasty!

Hopkinsville, Kentucky is a town in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. Hopkinsville was founded by Welsh settlers in 1814 on the Knox River. The original town name was "Hanson", and it changed to "Hopkinsville" in 1836 when the community became part of Marshall County. The first store in Hopkinsville was built by John Gatton in 1814. He started a general store and two wagon shops on Main Street which later became Hopkinsville's business district. In 1865, George Custer married into one of the families who had settled in Hopkinsville and his brother-in-law donated land for a courthouse and jail. The first courthouse building (now known as State Hall) was completed in 1867, and it served as the county seat until 1925 when Marshall County moved to its current location on High Street near the now defunct Hopkinsville Air Force Base. In 1910, local entrepreneurs organized what would become known as the "Kentucky Coal Mining Association". This group collected money from mining companies to help fund creation of new school districts across western Kentucky; these districts were then copied elsewhere throughout eastern Kentucky due to mineral wealth that had been discovered along the Cumberland Plateau during this time period. By 1912, there were over 20 schools operating out of Hopkinsville alone due to support from this coalmining association effort. During World War II, HopkinsVILLE residents did not turn down wartime draft options because they believed that education could help lead America through difficult times; however their efforts were not appreciated by American authorities because they considered them unpatriotic activities After hostilities ended in 1945, many veterans left town looking for jobs while others began rebuilding relationships with their former home country This reconstruction process took many years before all aspects of society had returned to normal; however since then much has changed within both Hughes City andMarshall Counties including: The current incarnation of downtown HopkinsVILLE features several blocks of renovated brick buildings dating back to 1915 – making it one of only a handful such cases worldwide where entire pre-war neighborhoods have been preserved intact despite changes wrought upon them during post-war growth . In addition to its central square location off Court Square Boulevard/High Street – flanked by two churches (First Baptist & Presbyterian), several large businesses (Carta Airlines hangar being one notable example), three major educational institutions (the University of Louisville School Of Medicine & Dentistry just west off US Highway 61; Southern Illinois University Carbondale - IL campus just east off US Highway 270; also nearby are two pharmaceutical factories - Baxter International Company’s manufacturing plant south on High Street between CourtSquare Blvd./US Highway 61 & Interstate 65 South lies adjacent thereto next door also housing some government offices) – Downtown HopkinsVILLE offers excellent public transportation access via various bus routes operated byMetro LouisvilleLink or Amtrak’s “Poochie Car” service which arrives at various locations aroundtown daily from Union Station Regional Airport
