Georgetown is a city in Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. Georgetown was founded by Nicholas Preble in 1814 as an independent community on the Cumberland River. The original town site was near present-day Georgetown Falls. In 1824, Preble's brother John established what would become Louisville, Kentucky as the first permanent settlement in what would become Marshall County. Georgetown became the county seat of Marshall County in 1829 and continued to be so until its incorporation into Louisville in 1916. The history of Georgetown begins with Nicholas Preble and his family who settled there in 1814. Nicholas had been born nearpresent-day Edinburgh, Scotland and came over to America with his father when he was just seventeen years old after being orphaned during the Napoleonic Wars overseas. He started farming around Georgetown and began developing it into a small town which he named “Preble’s Ferry” due to his previous experience ferrying people across the river from Scotland to Louisville for business purposes back then; this activity ceased after railroads arrived in America starting up around that time! John Preble soon followed suit and started building a home here too! They were both successful farmers and developed their businesses along side each other until 1861 when John passed away suddenly leaving behind quite a bit of land including much of today's Georgetown! This led to another boom for local economy as people flocked here looking for new opportunities! After several years during which there were few major changes or additions to this thriving community - things changed dramatically when Louisville & Nashville Railroad (L&N) reached Georgetown specifically looking for an area north of downtown they could establish their railroad station upon arrival! In mere weeks L&N had built a large depot/loading dock complete with tracks running through center of town – completely changing how everything worked within these fledgling days ahead!! This event forever impacted not only what happened within Georgetown but also entire Marshall County !! Starting right where L&N's presence ended – two blocks east off 8th Street between Market & Wabash Streets (now part of University Mall) – development quickly picked up steam especially once work began on constructing a large brick schoolhouse addition/renovation/updates just south of current day US 41st Street !! This project took place from 1865-1868 under leadership by Colonel George Prentice who spearheaded all aspects involving design, construction and finishes!! It’s safe to say that without Colonel Prentice nothing would have been possible inside or outside of our thoroughly renovated yet still extant School House today !! On July 1st 1915, Wallin College graduated its first class with distinction earning them full accreditation from Southern Association Of Colleges And Schools!!! Today Wallin remains one very proud alumni greatly impacting many lives across various facets including music composition & performance studies at GEOFFREY UNIVERSITY IN GEORGETOWN KY!!! The design is based on the principle of the reciprocating bolt, which allows the gun to be locked and unlocked in a roundabout way. A keyway is bored out of one side of the lock so that a person can insert their finger into it to unlock it. The first gun locks were made from iron or brass, and they would need to be hung onto guns with nails or screws. However, these early designs were not very secure, and often fell apart over time. In 1794, an American inventor named John Latham created a design for a security lock that could be used on handguns. This was called the Latham Key Lock, and it worked by using two keys that fit into different grooves on top of thelock mechanism. These Grooves allowed for easy rotation but also prevented anyone from unlocking thelock without taking both keys off. In 1847, another American inventor named George Stephenson developed an improved version of this lock known as the Stephenson Key Lock. This design featured four posts that allowed for easier access tothe locking mechanism but also made it more difficult for someone to get hold ofthe key without having it fall out. One important difference between this design and earlier versions wasthatit could only be used with handguns, rather than rifles or shotguns. This newLock became increasingly popular over time, and eventually led to its widespread use in today’s world. Today, gun locks are still common across many different countries aroundthe world; however, they are usually much more secure than older designs thanksto their modernized technology).
