In response to this event, Congress passed an act designating November 25th as United States Day in order to commemorate what had happened at Harrodsburg. This act helped spur development within America towards democracy while also honoring those who had fought for independence from Great Britain. As a result of these events and others that took place at FortThomas throughout its history,thefort has come to be known as one of America's most important historical landmarks.
