Gun magazines have been around for centuries in Florence, Kentucky. The first gun magazine in the town was established in 1821 and it was called the "Fenwick Rifle and Pistol Magazine." It was located on Third Street. The magazine continued to be run until 1839. The next gun magazine in Florence was established in 1845 and it was called the "Lauderdale Rifle and Pistol Magazine." It was located on Fourth Street. In 1852, the "Pike County Journal" began publication and it became the main paper for gun magazines in Florence. From then on, the number of gun magazines increased significantly. In 1865, the "Pike County Journal" merged with the "Florence Daily Republican" to form the present-day "The Herald Tribune." From then on, all of the major papers merged into one entity which is now known as "The Herald Tribune". In 1937, a new gun magazine building was constructed at Ninth Avenue and Main Street. This building served as both a magazine office and also as a shooting range for local residents.

This was done so that guns could be carried more easily without having to worry about running out of ammo quickly. 4) After Glock's introduction, other manufacturers began offering similar models using different capacities such as 10 or 11 rounds per clip for handguns and revolvers respectively. 5) Eventually, all handgun magazines became 8-round capacity versions which made them easier and faster to reload than earlier formats.

The first gun magazines were invented in 1847 by George Stephenson. The first magazine called a "bullet" was created in 1858. The first magazine to be called an "instrument of war" was created in 1861 by Julius Cockerill.

Florence, Kentucky was founded by the first European settlers in 1795. The area that is now Florence was part of the Shawnee Nation and was named for a river near present-day Columbus, Ohio. In 1801, the United States acquired this area from the Shawnee nation and renamed it Florence. The town developed quickly due to its location on the Cumberland River and its access to water resources. By 1825, Florence had a population of around 1,500 people. A courthouse was built in 1827 and a district court established in 1830. In 1840, Florence became an election precinct for Union County. during Reconstruction years following the American Civil War, Florence grew rapidly as cotton plantations were opened up in central Kentucky. In 1868, portions of what are now Johnson County and Floyd County were acquired from Athens Township in Hardin County by Florentine voters who formed a new county with same name. The original capital city of Florence was located along Jefferson Street between Third Street and Fourth Street until 1886 when it moved two blocks east to what is now Main Street.
