In 1881, J.W. Erlanger built a small frame farmhouse on the east side of the street that ran between his home and the post office. In 1922, he added a two-story addition to the house and named it after his father, John W. Erlanger Sr. The family grew to six children and several grandchildren before Mr. Erlanger passed away in 1951. The house was used as a residence until 1974 when it was sold to Mr. James Sayers who operated it as an inn until 1984 when it was bought by Mrs. Peggy Beasley who made extensive renovations and reopened the Inn as a bed and breakfast inn in 1990 called "The Peggy Beasley Inn".
Erlanger is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 598 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Erlanger was James A. Robertson who arrived in 1827. Headed by John Fenton, an Englishman, and his wife Susan (née McNaught), the Robertson family platted out a claim on land that would become known as Robertson's Fork River Valley. Robertson homesteaded on a tract of land that would later be known as Robertson's Fork Township. The original home of the Robertson family still stands today, located off of US-64 just east of town limits. In 1857, George Washington Carver founded Carver Institute in Lexington which served as a training ground for many future leaders including Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt . In 1911, Erlanger became one of only two towns in Kentucky to receive electric streetlights from General Electric Company . During World War II, Erlanger played host to various military activities including air raids and landing exercises which left their mark on local architecture and infrastructure including Camp Nelson Army Airfield and Naval Weapons Station Memphis . After the war ended, many residents relocated to larger communities such as Lexington or Louisville while others resumed farming or entered into other businesses such as carpentry or engineering . However, after more than 50 years without major development it was announced by Mayor Donnellan in 2013 that plans were underway to redevelop portions of town with mixed use buildings/landscapes with hopes of attracting new residents and businesses; this has since accelerated with construction beginning on Phase 1B of the project which includes reworking most aspects of downtown Erlanger

There is also an annual art show with local artists that meets at the high school auditorium.
