Erlanger, Kentucky is a small town located in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1859 by Andrew Erlanger and his family. Andrew's father, Isaac Erlanger, had been a surveyor for the United States government and had traveled to many different parts of the U.S., including Kentucky. In 1853, Isaac married Anna Maria Miller and they moved to Erlanger. AnnaMaria's parents were natives of Virginia and her father had come to America when she was relatively young to work on their farm during the goldrush years in California. AnnaMaria and her sisters later became nuns at Immaculate Conception convent near Louisville, Kentucky after their mother died when they were young girls. Andrew Erlanger started farming his own land around 1859 and built a house there that still stands today. He also began hiring help to do chores on his farmstead, which led to him becoming known as "the Farmer from Erlanger." In 1870, he married Amanda Ladd who also came from Virginia; they lived there until Amanda's death in 1930. AmandaLadd was an excellent cook and made many of the dishes that are still popular in this area such as chicken pot pie and macaroni salad (pictured). Among her favorite things to cook were fowl patties (a type of pancake) which she called "Pigeon Pie", squirrels with raisins inside (she would put them into hot syrup), ham hocks boiled with potatoes etc.; all these dishes can be found at local restaurants across the country today! In 1907, AndrewErlanders son John Crainer bought some land east of town along US 421 where he built a home now known as Crainers House Museum which tells the story of nearby Earlsboro Coal Mines through exhibits including coal dust mites from early 1800s mine visits by noted scientists such as James Hutton In 1930, Mrs.(Eleanor) Maynard bought some additional land northeast of town along US 421 which she used for housing before selling it off in 1935 to Mr.(Harry) Wertheimer whose family continues ownership Today As Farming went onto decline throughout much of America due to overpopulation changes during World War II farmers turned towards growing corn instead; however corn production did not meet expectations so farmers sent their families back west where prices for eggs increased making chicken more affordable . After repeated failures trying this new method Kansas passed a law legalizing brothel business just outside Topeka making it easier for businessmen like Harry Wertheimer Sr who opened several brothels within walking distance ofErlangars house bringing prostitution within easy reach for those looking for income Eventually ground zero shifted west again when oil was discovered on neighboring plains creating an entirely new industry - Petroleum engineering - totally changing how people live now even down here ..... well sorta!

Erlanger is a small town in the Pike County, Kentucky, USA. It was founded in 1881 by a group of men who had come to trade with the Cherokee Nation. The town has been known variously as "The Village", "The Mills", and "The Hill". The population was 597 at the 2000 census. In 1881, a group of men from Kentucky's Pike County came to trade with the Cherokee Nation. They named their new village Erlanger after an old Welsh border castle they had seen on their travels. Over time, other traders and entrepreneurs moved into Erlanger, making it one of the most active businesses towns in eastern Kentucky during the 19th century. In 1892, George Washington Carver settled in Erlanger and began his famous agriculture program here. His familyowned farm produced many of Eastern Kentucky's top crops such as corn, cotton, soybeans, honeybees (or pollination), potatoes and apples. In 1932-33, Carver donated land for the first high school in easternKentucky and built it on his farmstead today - now called Carver High School. In 1881-82 two brothers named John Fenton opened a general store at what is now corner of Main Street and Elm Street in Erlanger; this store became one of the most important economic engines driving growth throughout late 19th century rural areas east of Louisville/Jeffersonville corridor
The Erlanger community was founded in 1820. The first post office was located in the community, and it was moved to its current location in 1827. The area that is now Erlanger was surveyed by Captain James K. Polk in 1836 and named after General James K. Polk's daughter, Anna Belle Erlanger. In 1861, the Union army captured Fort Donelson from Confederate forces and made it their primary stronghold on the Cumberland River south of Nashville. As a result, many people fled to Erlanger because they thought they would be safe there. During World War II, much of northeast Kentucky were occupied by the Japanese military and many residents were forced to work at various factories or build airstrips for the war effort. Some of these residents returned to their homes during the war but others remained behind until 1945 when Japan finally surrendered. In that year, General MacArthur arrived in Tennessee to take control of postwar Japan and ordered all Japanese residents who had not left their homes within 24 hours to leave Tennessee! Many of these individuals decided to stay behind because they didn't have any other place to go. Following World War II, manyErlangers relocated back into their original communities including some who had been living in Japan during the war years. Today, most residents are descendants of those who lived through the early 1800s when this area was part of Kentucky's frontier settlement boomtown culture
