Erlanger, Kentucky is a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. The population was 9,970 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1847 by George Erlanger and his wife, Catharine (née Glass). George had come to America from Germany as a young man and married Catharine when he was 22 years old. They had two children:George and Martha. The family soon moved to what is today known as the Erlanger Place development on Old Mill Road in central Erlanger. The original home of theErlangers still stands, located off West Main Street near Highway 362. From that location, they could see all around their land and property until they finally built their first house on Third Avenue in 1851-52. Over time, theErlangers established a number of businesses including but not limited to: an importer of German rye flour; a seed mill; a grocery store; a blacksmith shop; and many more services which continue to be provided today by local residents or businesses such as Arlene's Flowers & Gifts (owned by Katharine's great granddaughter), Keeney's Cidery (owned byKEENEY COLBERT), Brunswick Inn (now called Idlewild Bed & Breakfast), The Dairy Queen (now defunct) and others! This community has always been close-knit with its own school system - both public schools for grades kindergarten through eighth grade were located adjacent to each other until 1978 when it merged into Lexington Regional High School where students now attend together! In 2006, Erlanger Elementary School became part of Lexington Regional Middle School becoming one building away from Lincoln Middle School! In addition there are private Schools within easy reach including Episcopal Academy which offers pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade while also having retail space available for parents who would like their child enrolled in school outside of home during inclement weather conditions!

Erlanger is a town in Boone County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Boone County. Erlanger is located on the Ohio River. The first settlers in what is now Erlanger were George and Sarah Keyes who arrived in 1799. They built a cabin on the banks of the river. The Keyes family farmed until 1824 when they sold their land to Captain James Witherspoon for $1,000 cash plus 6 shares of stock in the new post office which they founded that year. In 1825, Judge Samuel Bledsoe bought land from Captain James Witherspoon and formed a government named after himself with six commissioners: John Covington (bishop), Ebenezer Higgins (a lawyer), George Dickenson (a surveyor), Elijah Hicks (a banker), and Isaac Dickson (a shoemaker). This government was abolished by Governor Nicholas Carrick in 1828 because it did not have enough citizens to hold an election to decide its own members. In 1830, Daniel Boone moved his family from Virginia to Kentucky and began working as a forester near Mount Vernon where he met his future wife Elizabeth Carrington thereabouts. In 1831 he married her atMount Vernon and soon started clearing land for a plantation called "Carrington's Station". He named his plantation "Erlanger" after his mother's maiden name which he had learned from her when she visited him while pregnant with him back home in Virginia about two years earlier. The first store built in Erlanger was The General Store opened by Reuben Hays on December 10, 1830; it continued operation until 1904 when it closed because of financial difficulties caused by overpopulation growth within its restricted boundaries. In 1840 David Ladd opened a grocery store on Main Street which continued into 1903 although it failed due to competition from larger stores opening up around town during this time period such as Hardee's restaurant and Sam Jones' general merchandise store operated out of four building erected between 1830-1841 along Main Street north of Center Street known today as Ladd Hardware & Feeds Outlet Center business district renamed after him - Harlan Hardware Company building #1/2 also known as “the old Courthouse” prior to 1969 Demolition) . At one point Hiram Lodge served as Postmaster here butEffective Decades later discontinued mail service due population growth only 2 miles away (-8000 residents) making Erlangler effectively unimportant hence never mentioned herein again ....... A hotel called Hotel du Lac was built circa 1920-1930 adjacent to former millrace now occupied by Allstate Insurance company offices situated southeast corner Court street between First Avenue east side and Second Avenue west side original part of campus then part largest Block ever platted area east side court line erlangerville central high school football stadium site since battlefields developed next door lots included northeast corner lot originally contained Citizens Bank building now used for parking lot behind Allstate Insurance company offices allstate insurance Co headquaters Erlangerville KY 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s 2000s 2010s
Erlanger was founded in 1892 by a team of men from nearby Louisville. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who had died in battle the year before. The first store was built on the corner of Main and High streets. In 1912, Erlanger incorporated as a city, and its first mayor was J.A.D. McClure. In 1949, Erlanger became a member of the United States Congress and voted against the Korean War resolution. Mayor Cline resigned after being indicted on charges of bribery and corruption; he pleaded guilty to these charges and served six months in prison before being released on bond while awaiting trial. In 1957, Erlanger voters passed an ordinance establishing a school district referendum system which would allow citizens to vote on school districts within their city limits instead of having one School Board for all residents
