Elizabethtown is a town in Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Elizabethtown County. The town was founded in 1792 by General George Rogers Clark as a post office on the shores of the Little Blue River. By 1910, with more than 1,000 Muslims living withinElizabethtown limits under this exemption program,[14] it had become Clearwater Mosque Inc., also known as Islam Community Center (ICC). In 1924–25 ICC erected a large wooden frame building on what is now Second Street near Main Street which served as their mosque until it burned down in 1978;[15] subsequent efforts have not been successful in restoring it to its original form despite multiple proposals over several decades by various groups including Historic reuse group “Pioneers” LLC[16][17][18] On February 17th 1861Kentucky Statute No 208 provided for creation of Elizabeth Town Court House & Meeting Hall within bounds established by Act passed March 4th 1860 . . . This plan helped ensure that Louisville would continue to be able to serve as both capital and center for commerce throughout much of America while giving each region some measure of autonomy facto separate from Philadelphia.
