The first shotgun in Elizabethtown was developed by David Stone in 1814. The shotgun was a simple design that used a single shot fired from a long barrel. In 1837, John Sibley created the first rifle in Elizabethtown. The Rifle was styled after the musket and was designed to be used as a gunslinger’s weapon. In 1853, Samuel Colt created the revolver in Elizabethtown. This firearm became one of the most popular weapons in America thanks to its simplicity and efficiency. In 1889, Abert Jagger purchased land withinElizabethtown limits and began developing what would become known as “theRinggold Arsenal” for use by the Union Army during World War I. During World War II, gun production at “The Ringgold Arsenal” increased due to the demand for weapons by both the American military and Nazi Germany. After World War II, gun production at “The Ringgold Arsenal” slowly died off until it was closed by government regulations in 1968. Today, only an extremely few pieces of original equipment remain from when “The Ringgold Arsenal” functioned as one of America’s leading gun manufacturing companies

It also increased precision because it facilitated consistent aiming when shooting at close range. By 1900, most industrialized countries had introduced gun controls that prohibited civilians from owning firearms without a license or special registration requirements. As a result, many people switched to using knife grips instead of traditional gun grips due to their ease of use and lack of restrictions on arms ownership. Elizabethtown was founded in 1796 by General David Wilkinson, who named it for his wife Elizabeth. The town grew rapidly after the opening of the Kentucky Ridge Road, and in 1822 it became a county seat. In 1851, Elizabethtown merged with neighbouring Glasgow to form the new consolidated city of Glasgow-Elizabethtown. The city experienced explosive growth during the late 19th century and early 20th century, and by 1930 it had outgrown its original boundaries. To accommodate the growing population, Elizabethtown constructed a large new downtown area which is still one of its most popular tourist destinations today. The city of Elizabethtown also played an important role in regional history during its time as both a municipal government and cultural center. It was home to several significant literary figures including Sinclair Lewis and W.H. Auden; as well as many major events such as the 1903 Kentucky Derby race and World War I bombings. In recent decades, Elizabethtown has seen rapid gentrification and development, with much of its older core lost to redevelopment or demolition – though much remains within walking distance of present day visitors/Residents.
In 1792, the citizens of Elizabethtown petitioned the government for a new county seat. The town was founded in 1802 on the site of an old fort. In 1821, Elizabethtown became part of Jefferson County. In 1827, it was renamed to Liberty County and in 1840 it became part of Commonwealth Court District #2. On December 15, 1861, Liberty County was divided into two parts by the Union Army during the American Civil War, and Elizabethtown became one half of Louisville County.
