The latter part of the 19th century saw an influx of farmers from Kentucky and Ohio who began to settle in Pike County. In 1865, when Kentucky became a state,Danville joined neighboring Jefferson (now Donelson) as one of its first county seats; it remained so for most of its early years. During Reconstruction period (1865-1877), much activity took place here due to various political conventions being held here; many southern Democrats came to understand how importantKentucky voting blocs were in presidential races during that era. After Reconstruction ended with the end of slavery in America, few people moved into central KY until World War II when large numbersigrated into KY because of wartime needs such as labor force expansion and new housing developments created following World War II boomtown development patterns across Appalachia

Danville, Kentucky is a small town in Eastern Kentucky and seat of Campbell County. The population was 1,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Danville was David Lane who arrived in 1813. He built a cabin near the present-day intersection of Old US Routes 52 and 382. In 1819, John Dickey settled in what is now Danville and opened a post office there. A courthouse was also erected here in 1824. In 1830, James Wilkinson bought 640 acres (248 hectares) of land at the confluence of the Ohio and Monongahela rivers for $5 per acre. Wilkinson named his new town Danville after his father-in-law, Daniel Boone Sr., who had settled in this area three years earlier. By 1800, there were over 100 people living hereabouts. In 1871, local farmers formed the Campbell County Agricultural Society to promote agricultural development within their county boundaries. The society's first president was J C Caldwell who donated 10 acres (4 hectares) of land east of Danville to be used as an Experimental Farm for Agriculture and Commerce School purposes which would become one of the most famous agricultural schools in America during its early years! The school closed its doors in 1957 but has been reopened several times since then as a research center focused on sustainable agriculture! The current farmhouse on that property once housed dairy cows that gave milk to help support school programs; however today you can find some very interesting antique items inside!
In 1810, Danville was founded by John Danforth and his wife Catharine. The town grew rapidly due to its location at the convergence of two rivers, the Ohio and the Kentucky. By 1830, Danville had a population of over 2,000 people. Danville became a consolidated city in 1852 with all of Kentucky’s villages joining it. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Danville was besieged by Confederate forces and eventually surrendered. After the war, many farmers moved into the city for work in newly opened factories and mills. The population of Danville declined after World War II but has since grown again as new businesses have opened up in the downtown area.
