The Danville Gun Sight Company was founded in 1881 by George A. Worth and C.B. Boggs. The company manufactured gun sights for the Kentucky rifle and pistol classes. In 1906, the company merged with Browning Manufacturing Company to form Browning-Worth Corporation. The merger resulted in a reduction in production of gun sights due to the cost of merger materials and manufacturing plants in Illinois and other locations across the United States. However, browning-worth continued to produce classic rifles and shotguns under their own name until 1968 when they were acquired by Savage Arms Corporation

TheDanville Gun Sight Company was organized in 1892. The first sight, a 12 inch model, was built by George W. Hargrave. It had an iron sights and was used by the Danville Riflemens Club.
Danville is a small town in Kentucky, located on the Cumberland River. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette-Manchester, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Danville was originally inhabited by the Shawnee and others early settlers who began to arrive in droves during the 17th century. The first post office was established in 1792, and by 1800 there were over 100 homes in the village. By 1825, however, it had only six residents and no businesses. In 1829 a road from Louisville ran through Danville and soon it became an important transportation hub for farmers travelling to markets in neighboring states. In 1865, John Brown's Raid on Harpers Ferry left many men dead or mutilated near Danville; this event helped spur development of farming along the Cumberland River corridor. Over time much of what is now downtown Danville was built up around these farms and businesses; today most of downtown is composed of retail spaces and office buildings dating back to before World War II when agricultural production became more important than manufacturing. Today some residents still live close to their farmlands while other families commute into larger towns for work opportunities or better schools; nonetheless, Danville has become one ofKentucky's most vibrant communities with a rich history that can be enjoyed today just as much as it was when it first emerged from obscurity into everyday life during the late 19th century.

Danville is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. It was founded by Methodists in 1825 and named for John Danforth, an early settler. The first store in Danville was built on the corner of Third and State Streets. In 1829, the first school opened in Danville. The present dayDanville Methodist Church was built in 1886 and has been serving the community ever since. In 1881, Danville became a free town under the Constitution of Kentucky. In 1902, it incorporated as a city with a population of 10,000 people. The city council has five members and is chaired by mayor Proctor Jarrell Sellers. Today, Danville remains an agricultural center with crops such as corn (maize), soybeans (soybean oilseed), cotton (cottonseed), tobacco (marijuana), and other products being produced hereabouts including apples, strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pears and onions. Some local businesses still operate today such as Verizon Wireless' corporate headquarters which houses somemnal offices within its walls adjacent to one of the original large grain elevators/storage barns that once stood hereabouts; Yates Tire & Rubber Co.; Pinnacle Bank; Allen Printing Works; what is now called "The Food Lion" restaurant chain - all which were Traditions grocery stores before their conversion to fast food restaurants circa 1990-2000 - making this one of those rare cases when an entire downtown core from near its founding until latter days remaining essentially unchanged whereas other older parts around it have changed hands multiple times or become home to various chains or no longer at all anchored by anything significant inside them - be that brick building on Third Street between Main Avenue and Court Avenue that used to be locally known as "The Brewery" back when pioneer proprietor Wm Hays ran it as part of his brewing operations under contract with Louisville Water Works prior to breaking away from that arrangement circa 1865 until he sold out circa 1870 thenceforward becoming self-sufficient alcohol production only - all these things having taken place during not too many short years sandwiched around two big events namely:the opening of US 474 realignment southward across Courthouse Square aka "Kentucky Route 41" hereinafter better known simply as "the square" following its rerouting eastward along what had formerly been state Route 66 via Courthouse Road thereafter becoming Interstate 40 eastbound crossing Overton Road through what had hitherto been just village Green although this too changed little over time save for occasional development projects like new streets added hereabouts after thoroughfare designation changes etc.; downsized street gridicity within hardscrabble neighborhoods post independence notwithstanding [-=]
