The company was bought by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1912. In 1916, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company merged with Colt Firearms Corporation to form Colt-Winchester Arms Corporation. In 1929, the companys assets were sold to Savage Arms Corporation and it ceased production of firearms.

In 1865, the first school opened in Danville; it closed in 1975. The first churchwas built in 1881; it burned down in 1978. There are two hotels in town: the King's Inn and the Frontier Hotel. The history of Danville begins with John Danforth and his family who Settled there from Ohio in 1827. He farmed on land that he purchased from the Cherokee Nation for $6 per acre (equivalent to $200 today). This settlement would later become known as "Danville". Colonel George Washington Daniel soon followed suit purchasing land here also for $6 per acre (equivalent to $200 today). By 1830, both men had erected homes atop their respective properties- this would be the beginning of what would become one of Kentucky's most prominent families -Daniel & Sons grocery store / post office located at 419 Main Street became one of the earliest businesses locate within driving distance of most residents while also serving as social center for locals and visitors alike! In1865, Daniel & Sons donated their property along 2nd Avenue South to form what would eventually become First Christian Church which served area until 1978 when it burned down due to neglect by its congregation! Reverend JT McCormick officiated at first services but then left for other churches before reopening as First Congregational United Methodist Church on North Second Street with continuing services until its closure some years ago! Despite these challenges however, many people continue to call "The Fiddler" home because they know that nothing will bring them closer than good old fashioned community support!
