Covington, Kentucky is a small town located in Pike County, Kentucky. The population was 7,022 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pike County and home to the Covington Municipal Airport. The first settlers in Covington were men from Ohio who came overland in wagons during the early 1800s. They erected a log cabin on what is now Springvale Road and named it after their original homesteading destination – Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1827, John Patterson arrived from Cumberland County, Maryland with his family and founded Patterson's Landing onkyo Creek on what is now mile marker 10 of KY Route 66. By 1830, more than 100 residents had settled in Covington. In 1836, James Kincaid purchased land east of downtown Covington from Nicholas Hatton for $5 per acre (the equivalent of about $ today). Kincaid planned to build a mill on this land which he called "Kincaid's Mill". However, by 1840 only foundations remained of the mill which was destroyed by an accidental fire that same year. A new mill was built at what is now First Baptist Church on Third Street in 1845 by Elijah Hickson and ran until 1861 when it caught fire due to careless burning by the workers. The rebuilt mill operated continuously until 1896 when it burned down again due to arsonists. A new mill started up successfully but closed its doors permanently in 1903 due to financial troubles caused by heavy indebtedness brought about largely by World War I-related investments made in munitions manufacturing plants near Lexington,KY). After several years of failed attempts at restarting mills within Covington proper or opening them outside the city limits (due largely to lack of available financing), Isaac Folger finally obtained title dated January 6th 1906 from David Goodloe for 3/8 mile square parcel lying along present day Second Avenue between KY Routes 54 & 56 forming part thereof including an area then known as "Folger's Field" containing mineral rights dating back to pre-Revolutionary times etc., thus creating "Covingtonshire" beginning with our present day town site! After much effort expended over many years we were able to secure favorable coverage both locally and nationally including establishment as one side effect our being included as one half way point along US 20 thru Pikeville making us justly proud!

This type of Shooting Glasses was probably more popularized by movie actors because it allowed them to do their scene without having their actual eyes exposed to the sun/light. However, these Ocular Shades did not last very long because they quickly became damaged by the weather and were eventually replaced by more advancedtypes such as Mirror Shielding Shirts which would later become popular among law enforcement officers and military personnel . These sunglasses featured three large mirrors on each lens which provided views in both directions making them perfect for those who needed multiple looks throughout a given situation! Covington is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,428 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Covington comes from the Welsh word for "coves". The first settlers in what is now Covington were farmers who came to this area around 1810. They named their community after an English gentleman named John Covington who had settled near present-day Lexington in 1785. The town dates back to when the Kentucky General Assembly created Hardin County on November 3, 1825. That same year, James Green and Isaac Beasley erected a log cabin in what is now known as the Old Courthouse Square. By 1830, many settlers had arrived and began building homes around that time. In 1831, John Witherspoon organized a Methodist church in what is now the courthouse square and served as its first pastor. Reverend Witherspoon also founded School No. 1 which today still operates as a daycare center across from theOld Courthouse Square. In 1840, an act of Congress passed which designated Hardin County as parkland within which all citizens were free to set up farms or fences 200 feet wide within any public road or path (the so-called "Galt's Rule"). This land later became one of America's earliest agricultural regions with large tracts going to early industry pioneers like Andrew Jackson Davis and Josephine Ketchum Smith (who donated much of her estate - including over 2 million acres of forest - to create Northern Kentucky University). In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell visited Covington while on his way to Harpers Ferry and took shelter at Mrs.'s tavern before moving on into nearby Primmville where he ordered his army massed for battle just days before Gettysburg was fought only 20 miles away! After Vicksburg was surrendered by Union forces on April 12th 1863, most Confederate troops retreated eastward through Onslow County towards Louisville; however some units continued south until they reached Overmountain Gap outside Ofman Junction about three weeks later on July 9th 1863 when Confederate General Jubal Early made his surrender there; these men then formed picket lines along Interstate 65 outside Bardstown waiting for orders home! On September 8th 1861 Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated Ulysses S Grant became President and 4 months later Robert Ewell returned home from battles at Winchester Virginia taking possession of Covington Enterprise Store followed by other stores throughout the countryside; it's not clear if these stores functioned as post offices until 1865 but we can assume they did because no government office would have been built here without proper postage stamps! On December 2nd 1861 Samuel Morse sent 5¢ copper tokens via mail order from Pittsburg Pennsylvania using this store frontPost Office thereby becoming America's first commercial telegraph operator!!! This event forever marked Covington Commerce & Manufacturing District!!! Today you can find several downtown businesses that date back to those early days including our very own Anthony’s Pizza Place!!
The Covington area was first settled by the Shawnee in the late 1700s. In 1812, John Brown and his band of raiders moved through this region and killed many Shawnee, causing some to flee. The area was later claimed by Kentucky as part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. During the American Civil War, General Robert E. Lee issued a proclamation ordering all Confederate soldiers in Kentucky to leave the state. Many Confederate officers and men chose to stay and fight, but eventually they were forced to retreat into Virginia or North Carolina. Some local residents remained loyal to the Confederacy, while others deserted or returned home after learning of their troops' cowardice. In 1865, following the end of the war, most of these regions became part of newly formed Tennessee when that state was created from parts of Mississippi and Alabama. However, some veterans from Kentucky continued to live in Covington until after its incorporation into new Tennessee County on January 1, 1907.
