Covington is a city in Letcher County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 14,898 at the 2000 census. The Covington metropolitan area had a population of 24,711 as of 2010. It is the most populous city in Letcher County and the second-most populous city in Kentucky after Lexington. The first multi tool history can be traced back to 1814 when Judge James Robertson bought land from David Wilkinson for $3 per acre. He erected a small cabin on what is now known as Robertson Hill and began to use his tools to farm and build roads and fences. In 1827 he married Mary Jane Foreman and their first child was born in Covington: John Foreman Jr., who later became an Associate Justice on the Kentucky Supreme Court In 1831 Robertson built aHouse new home on Elm Street which served as his personal office until moved to its current location in 1909 where it remains today He also started producing oil lamps which he sold door-to-door throughout his territory In 1841 he married Sarah Lovejoy whom he would have another four children with before she died in 1861 aged 44 Robertson then turned production over to his son John Foreman III who ran the business until it was taken over by his father-in-law Sam Underwood in 1916 In 1865 former slave Solomon Ingram opened a grocery store across from present day First Baptist Church called "Ingram's" which continued operation until it burned down in 1938 (the building still stands). This event marks the beginning of African American settlement within Covington proper . In 1870 Samuel Bowman established A & H Grocery next door to "Ingram's." Bowman continued operations until 1954 when he closed shop due to economic conditions. Bowman is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery near modern day Gadsden Mall located just outside of downtown Covington proper . Despite this hardship some black residents managed to keep their businesses open including J.D.'s Barber Shop operated by John Dillard from 1951 through 1974 . In 1924 Robert Witherspoon established Witherspoon Hardware Store adjacent to His Masterpiece Bakery on Third Street SE (now known as Second Avenue) which continues operating today with only modest improvements since its establishment

Covington, Kentucky is a town in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 12,651 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jefferson County. The first settlement in what is now Covington was made by the English settlers in 1784 and the town was named for General Sir William Covington who fought in the American Revolution. In 1846, it became part of Louisville and Nashville County. In February 1861, when Confederate forces occupied Louisville and began to march on downtown CVille to take it over as their capital city, Mayor John Fenton ordered all white men out of Covington and into surrounding neighbourhoods because he knew that these neighbourhoods would be surrendering without a fight. As a result of this order and other actions taken by Confederate authorities during the Siege of CVille (February 1861-April 1865), many people in Covington abandoned their homes and fled to Union lines. Most residents returned home after Louisville surrendered on April 3rd 1865; however, some continued to live outside ofCVille until January 6th 1866 when they were finally allowed back into town. Today, much like then, life revolves around tourism which has driven economic growth throughout the years for both locals and visitors alike. Some notable attractions located within or nearby Covington include: The University of Kentucky Wildcats’ football team’s home field “The Swamp” where they play their games since 1912; Coxe Hall which houses various educational institutions including one attached to UK journalism school; The Knoxville News Sentinel Building which served as headquarters for two different newspapers before being destroyed by fire in 2006; White House Down National Monument complex which includes an original downsized version of President James K Polk’s house from his time as commander-in-chief during the Mexican–American War; Fort Donelson National Historic Sitewhich contains some beautiful cannons from that campaign as well as reconstructed barracks used during that battle;Fort HindmanNational Historic Sitewhich contains artifacts from several Native American clans living nearCVille at that time also;and more!

Covington is a small town in Kentucky, about 25 miles southwest of Lexington. The population was 10,546 at the 2010 census. It has been part of Jefferson County since 1821. The first white settlers in what became Covington arrived in 1799, and soon after erected the first courthouse in the town. In 1821, the county was created from parts of Lexington and Botetourt counties, and Covington became its capital. The courthouse remained until 1903 when it was replaced by a new building that still stands today. The early days of Covington were difficult as no one had any money to buy land or build anything other than a few log cabins. However, over time things changed for the better as people started coming to live here for some of the best farmland around. They also started trading with other towns and villages in Clark County for goods and services necessary for their lives such as woodworking tools, candles, munitions and other supplies needed during this time period known as the frontier era. Today there are many businesses operating within Covington including several banks and several restaurants/bars that serve up delicious food all year round! There are also several churches located throughout town which have helped keep things going strong over the years.
The first European to settle in Covington was John Patterson, who arrived in 1785. The town was named for the Battle of Culloden (1746), which occurred near present-day Covington. In 1801, General Andrew Jackson and his army fought a battle at this site, which helped drive the British out of Kentucky.
