However, during the Great Depression, Louisville lost its status as an important commercial center and plummeted into economic decline. In the early 21st century, Campbellsville has regained some of its former prominence as a business and cultural hub following several years of revitalization efforts spearheaded by Mayor Boyd Jarrell. Today, Campbellsville is known for its strong community spirit and vibrant nightlife culture which has helped it maintain its ranking as one of Kentucky’s most popular tourist destinations.
