Bowling Green is a city in Medina County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 17,711 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Medina County after Lexington and Frankfort. In 1861, during American Civil War II, nearby Fort Donelson became Union Army Headquarters following Confederate General Robert Ewing's successful attack on that fort on April 26th of that year; however according to some historians Fort Donelson never actually surrendered due to lack of cooperation by local military commanders within Letcher County—a fact that may have aided Union forces during the war itself rather than hampering their progress northward overall. After the war ended in 1865, most manufacturing businesses closed down or relocated away from Bowling Green because of increased competition from far-off Kentucky cities such as Louisville and Cincinnati; however one business did remain open until he closure by Hurricane Andrew in 1992: George Washingtons grocery store at 5th Street & Market Place which continued operation until 1997 due to its large scale inventory (in those days all grocery stores had significant inventories). Upon taking office as President Barack Obama’s first term begins UAW Local 6299 traveled to Washington D C where they delivered letters containing nearly 20 individual grievances against several University officials including University President Jerald Martin who had retired two years earlier upon leaving office under high pressure brought about largely by Quayle’s proposed global outsourcing program dubbed 'Eliminate All redundancies!' - layoff announcements having begun numerous months before Mr Obama took office .
