Bowling Green, Kentucky is a city in the U.S. state of Kentucky and the county seat of Boyle County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 507, making it the most populous city in Boyle County. The Greater Bowling Green metropolitan area had a population of 1,521 as of December 2015. It is also home to Western Kentucky University and two hospitals—the Eastern Kynectic Medical Center and Commonwealth Care Health System. The first recorded inhabitants of what is now Bowling Green were Native Americans who lived near what is now downtown Cincinnati. In 1794, General George Rogers Clark's army besieged Fort Knox in what is now Louisville and burned down part of the fortress to make way for his retreat from Quebec City during the French Revolution. General James Wilkinson erected a forts at present-day Bowling Green and Harrodsburg on both sides of the Ohio River opposite Cincinnati to protect against British invasion (this was actually done before Lexington). The town site was chosen because it would be easy to build roads across difficult terrain due to its location at an intersection point on two major routes connecting central Kentucky with Cincinnati and Pittsburgh; these days, Interstate 65 crosses over one end of town while State Route 341 connects it with Interstate 75 northeast acrosstown. In 1814, when news arrived that Napoleon Bonaparte had invaded Great Britain, President James Kenedy authorized Colonel John Brown's Raid on Baltimore which resulted in more than 100 deaths including many local men serving in Brown's army: "This action has been spoken about by some as one of our finest deeds since independence...It was not only necessary butchery." When news arrived that war was impending between America and Europe, Kenedy ordered allKentucky public buildings including schools closed so that soldiers could be fed without interruption from early morning until late night; this unusual measure helped delay American military recruitment until after peace negotiations began Led by Colonel Nathaniel Banks (and later Governor Andrew Johnson), America entered World War I on April 6th 1914 In 1942–1943 USS "Pensacola" bombarded Hiroshima causing great destruction; much damage was inflicted on Kyoto Prefecture adjacent to Hiroshima Plain but no human injury or death occurred as a result although small amounts radioactive material did escape into ambient air concentrations exceeding safe limits set by Japan Civil Defense Agency after release from reactor containers deliberately opened following accident at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant

It is the second most populous city in Butler County after Frankfort, and is also one of two cities (the other being Louisville) in which Butler County has a combined population over 100,000 residents. Bowling Green was founded by James Wray in 1792 as a small trading post on the Ohio River between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. In 1814, it became part of the newly formed United States under President James K. Polk when Congress created Butler County from portions of Knox and Allen Counties east of Cincinnati. The town grew rapidly after its incorporation as an independent municipality in 1824 and had a population of nearly 120 people by 1830; however, it declined during the 1830s because cotton production declined in Appalachia due to low soil quality and exposes to southern winds that caused early blighting throughout much of Kentucky’s cotton belt. The first American bowling Oversized Bowling Alley opened at Bowling Green on November 15th 1889 by J P Laughlin III with 10 lanes In 1896, Laughlin donated 5 acres (20,000 m²) adjacent to his existing factory complex for use as a public park named After Dark Park following his victory at the world’s first known professional women’s singles event at Springfield Armory outside Philadelphia where he defeated Norma Shearer 8-4 before an audience including Empress Alexandra II who watched on live from her private box at Constitution Hall Garden
