Gun chokes date back to the early 1800s when pistols were still being made with manual loading mechanisms. This meant that cartridges had to be loaded one at a time into the firearm. The process was slow and often difficult, soguns were usually used for self-defense or hunting purposes only. In 1892, Ashland Sheriff John Haltom patented a design that would revolutionize handgun chokes. The patent allowed handguns to be chokefired using a simple lever action, making them much easier to use in combat. This new form of chokefired handgun became known as the Haltom model A1. It was quickly put into production and saw service in both World Wars. The Haltom model A1 was eventually replaced by the Glock model 19 in 1991. Meanwhile, other designs have been developed over the years that have made gun chokes more efficient and versatile. One such design is the Heckler & Koch PPS*9*, which uses an all-steel grip frame and hammer spring system to provide positive resistance against recoil forces whilestill providing good performance under fire.*

The area now known as Ashland was first settled by Europeans in 1799. It was named for General James Wilkinson who fought against Native American attacks on his frontier holdings. By 1840, most of the land around present-day Ashland had been developed and it became one of the largest towns in eastern Kentucky.During its early years as a settlement, Ashland experienced some turmoil due to its location on strategic trade routes connecting Louisville with Nashville and Cincinnati. However, by 1860 most residents had become prosperous farmers and businessmen thanks to generous land grants from President James Ketchum.Many aspects of daily life in post-Civil War America were founded here including tight currency controls that persisted until after World War II; strict regulation of oil production which led to local industries such as defense contractors being established; major waves of Southern Appalachian migration during Reconstruction; and numerous technological advances including those that led to television transmission across state lines and air travel within Kentucky during this period

Ashland is a town in Morgan County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 4,759 at the 2010 census. Ashland is located on the southern border of the county and is bordered by Lebanon to the east, Greenville to the north, and Perrysburg to the west. The first permanent settler in what would become Ashland was James Fenton who built a cabin in 1821. In 1824, John Trimble settled here and began growing corn and other crops. By 1830, Ashland had a post office and two stores. The first courthouse was erected here in 1831. The town started as a small community but soon grew into an incorporated village with a church and schoolhouse. In 1835-36, George Rogers founded an agricultural society which later became Rogers National Bank. In 1840-41, Elijah Hicks founded another agricultural society which became Hicks National Bank & Trust Company (now First Community Banks). In 1845-46, Wm Higginson established another agricultural society which became Higginson Mercantile Company (now JCPenney). In 1850-51 Frank Barbour opened up barbershops in both Ashland and Lebanon for people to stop by for haircuts on their way home from work or from going to market downtown respectively. At that time there were only one or two grocery stores in town! The first cotton gin was built around 1860 by Elisha Goodspeed out of wood taken from local trees cut down near his farmstead on Old Highway 40 outside of town limits - this also allowed exports of raw cotton material back into America for processing at large mills! That same year saw construction begin on what would become known as "the White House" – now part of the University of Kentucky campus – located just off Main Street behind Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Cathedral! This building housed many early residents including Judge John Crainer (founder of Kentucky State Department Of Education) who served as its firstresidential occupant before moving upriver to Louisville! And finally – starting around 1870 – bricks started being made locally at various brickyards adjacent to river banks with goods transported over land routes all the way downriver to Paducah for final packaging/marketing! This led directlyto Louisville becoming America’s “ Brick City” !!
