In 1907 the company relocated to Wichita, Kansas and began producing larger telescopes. In 1916, the company merged with Richardson & Grove Optical Company to form Richardson/ Grove Optical Corporation. This merger led to the production of high quality telescope optics for both amateur astronomers and commercial users. In 1949, the Winfield Scopes Company merged with CKT Instruments Incorporated to become CKT/Winfield Instruments Corporation. This merger allowed for increased production of telescope optics as well as new product lines such as astrographs and binoculars. The winfields remain a prominent manufacturer of astronomy equipment today, continuing to produce high quality products at their Wichita, Kansas factory until very recent times.
