The Winfield Shooting Protection Society (WSPS) was founded in 1907 as a cooperative of farmers and hunters in Winfield, Kansas. The society began using rifle barrels that were made of brass or copper and shot baskets to protect shooters from accidents. In 1916, the WSPS constructed its first shooting range in Winfield. Over time, other ranges have been constructed in Winfield and throughout the state of Kansas. Today, the WSPS operates over ninety shooting ranges across the state ofKansas. Our mission is to provide safe, fun and educational opportunities for all who participate. We offer classes on how to shoot safely as well as lessons on muzzleloading firearms, shotguns and handguns. Additionally, we provide equipment rental services for those wanting to learn more about shooting safety and how to improve their accuracy. In addition to our ranges, we also operate a number of education materials available at our headquarters located inWinfield . These materials include NRA handbooks on target practice, Reloading Instruction Manuals for Shotguns & Pistols,. Winfield is a small town in Dodge County, Kansas, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The name Winfield was derived from the words "winnow" and "fair." The first settler in Winfield was David Aiken, who arrived in 1854. Winfield had a post office from 1857 to 1907. In 1868, Samuel Beal opened a bakery in Winfield and soon became known as one of the leading bakers in east-central Kansas. In 1902, Beal's son Julius founded what would become the city's first grocery store. By 1920, there were five grocery stores in Winfield; three by Julius Beal and two by his brother William Huntley Jr.. In 1951, James Aiken bought out his father's share of the businesses and continued operation as an independent grocer until 1983 when he sold them all to convenience store magnate Carl Wigglesworth. The present day winnowing industry that began around 1910 continues today with many farmers using winnowers on their fields during summertime to clear chaff from their crops before they can be ground into flour or other products for sale. Today most winnowers are used for residential purposes such as turning lawn clippings into pellets or straw for insulation or insulation against cold climates

Winfield was founded in 1854 by George Winfield and his wife, Sarah. The town was named in honor of General Winfield, who had fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1887, the town became a city. Today, Winfield is a quiet small town located about 25 miles northeast of Wichita Falls. The population was 1,912 as of 2010. The history of Winfield begins with George Winfield and his wife Sarah. They were natives of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and arrived in Kansas Territory in 1844 hoping to find a new home for their two young children. After six months of traveling they settled on the present site of Winfield after hearing about a homestead available for sale near Topeka. In November 1845, the family moved into their first home which they built from logs that had been salvaged from an old Civil War fort on the banks of the Arkansas River. In 1850, when Kansas Territory was created from parts of Nebraska and Iowa, George Winfield became its first mayor. He served until1853 when he resigned because he could not agree to incorporate Topeka into Wichita County as proposed by territorial legislators. He returned to live at his original location until 1861 when he sold his land north of Topeka to spur development there and bought adjoining land southward where Wichita Falls now stands (the current boundaries were set by a 1907 meeting between the towns). At this time, George Winton founded what would become Wichita State University adjacent to his property on Main Street near Hutchinson Avenue just east of I-35W; it would be one of America's most popular universities with more than 20 campuses across North America before it merged with Kansas State University in 2006! George Winton also played an important role during Sacandaga’s Rebellion which began on July 8th 1861 when farmers around KedzieSquare revolted against government tariffs imposed by Governor James Caldwell while wheat prices were dropping due to overproduction caused by railroads backed by cotton interests! With assistance from local militia including Wade Hampton’s 4th Infantry Regiment under Major John Smedley (later Chief Justice), Winton led an Army column through western Shawnee County “to put down these rebellions before they spread any further” according to historian Forrest Pogue Jr.. As compensation for farmer damage done during this rebellion – estimated at $3 million – Caldwell ordered state troops stationed along the Great Western Road between Shawnee City and Parsons Junction destroyed! This event is also commemorated annually as Independence Day in Wichita! After weekslong standoff resulting in no decisive victory or loss for either side, skirmishes continued until early October 1862 when Union forces under General Ulysses S Grant surrounded Cedar Rapids without attempting entry while supplies were being brought upriver; this event is also commemorated annually as Halloween night in Cedar Rapids! Finally upon news that Fort Donelson had fallen within Confederate hands following its siege plus reports that Abraham Lincoln was trying unsuccessfully to muster reinforcements against Grant at Springfield Armory near Chicago – effectively ending American involvement in World War II – President Abraham Lincoln called off all military operations outside Missouri effective November 15th 1862 . However since much equipment still remained at Fort Donelson some soldiers continued garrisoning there until 1865–66 when all units withdrew except those remaining garrisoned at Prairie du Chien Prison!!
