Scope mounts have been a part of the Shawnee, Kansas community for many years. In 1884, Missouri Pacific Railroad began construction in the area and created a need for scope mounts to assist with their railroad work. A company called The Mountaineers was founded to provide these mounts and other goods needed for railroading in the region. The company continued to operate until 1923. In 1922, the Shawnee Agricultural Cooperative begun construction in the area and also created a need for scope mounts. The Mountaineers were again contacted to provide these items since they could not build them themselves. Eventually, these companies merged into one entity which became known as Eastern National Corporation. This company produced scope mounts from 1922 until 1951 when it stopped production altogether due to expensive wartime investments that did not bring any real increase in sales. After World War II, Scope Mounts returned to Shawnee thanks to local entrepreneur Ewing Hargrave who reintroduced them in 1948 as Hargrave's Manufacturing Company of America Incorporated (later renamed American Power Products). These products remained popular through the next several decades until they were discontinued by American Power Products in 1984 due to competition from competitors such as Nikon and Pentax who had introduced more advanced cameras at that time. The first ScopeMounts manufactured by Eastern National Corporation were made out of brass and plastic materials; however, over time they transitioned towards aluminum because this material was less likelyto rust or corrode under high loads or exposure to chemicals or air pollution. By 1951 all ScopeMounters had switched from brass/plastic components back onto aluminum because this material offered many advantages such as being stronger and less likelyto corrode than Brass/PVC components; moreover it was lighter weight making it easier for users to carry around without feeling weighed down. The Shawnee Indian Agency was established in 1854, and the present-day Shawnee County was organized in 1867. In 1890, the Kansas statehood amendment granted Cherokee Nation membership in the United States. The agency continued to exist until 1907 when it merged with the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs to form the present-day Department of Indian Affairs.
Shawnee is a small town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,644 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. Shawnee is named after the Shawnees who were the original inhabitants of this area. The first European to visit Shawnee was David Rice on April 14, 1803, during his exploration of what is now Kansas Territory. He named it "Cheyenne" for the Cherokee Nation and noted that there was no water hereabouts. A few days later he again visited this location when he discovered an impoundment on the creek near present day Shawnee Mission High School which served as a trading post for fur traders in this region. Some years later another group of Europeans arrived in what is now Sedgwick County and called it "Lenaweetie" after one of their leaders ( presuming from nearby Ottawa River), but they soon abandoned this name because of local Native American resistance to white settlement east of the Arkansas River. In 1814 Major James Pottom erected a blockhouse on an hill overlooking Shawnee Creek just south of modern day Shawnee Mission High School where today's commercial district begins and built Fort Pottom as part of his efforts to protect settlers against Native American attacks along these routes into Indian Territory during the early 19th century westward expansion by Ulysses S Grant and others seeking land grants as part of Manifest Destiny idea promoted by President James Kansa. Shawnee, Kansas was born on November 3, 1821 in a log cabin on the banks of the Missouri River. The Shawnee were one of the many Native American tribes that lived in what is now Kansas and Oklahoma. In 1819, Shawnee Chief Topeka agreed to trade goods with the United States in order to keep his people safe from European encroachment. From this agreement, the area around Shawnee became known as "The Great Forts." The first white settlers in Shawnee Territory arrived in 1825. They were traders looking for new markets for their products. By 1830, about 75% of the population of Shawnee was white American Indian. The town of Shawneetown was founded by James Denny in 1830. Denny had come from Ohio and wanted to start a trading post among his own people and those living near him on the Wichita River (now part of Wichita County). In 1834, white men began to arrive at an increased rate due to gold discoveries in California and Oregon. In response to this increase in settler activity, Congress passed the Kansas Constitution on February 12th,1835 which created Kansas as a territory within Mexico's territories west of Texas (this area included present-day Oklahoma). The governor of Mexico decided that this area should be annexed into Mexico because there was no legal way for residents of these areas to vote or hold office without Mexican citizenship. This decision led to open warfare between Ulysses S Grant's forces and Mexican soldiers over control of this region. By 1840, only about 10%of all original settlers remained in what is now Oklahoma; most had relocated southward into Texas or eastward into Iowa or Illinois (the capital city at that time was Topeka). With few resources left available for development outside their home state, most residents chose instead to move away from what they saw as an hostile environment characterized by rich farmland but little opportunity for success economically or politically. Most importantly though was their fear that annexation by Mexico would result in forced assimilation into a corrupt Mexican government - something they could not bring themselvesenance living through again if it happened back home. As pressure mounted from both sides during the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), settlers abandoned their homes and fled across state lines into Indian Territory after being refused passage through US Customs checkpoints manned by Ulysses S Grant's army; some reached Canada before they could be deported back home (). During this time period large tracts along both sides of the Missouri River were burned off by angry farmers who thought they would get access to newfound land if nothing else; however no such land ever came available as compensation for lost property (). Following peace negotiations ending America's Civil War on April 6th 1865, General Augustin Andrade appointed Governor Colfax with orders to annex all remaining lands west of Fort Scott beyond Omaha City limits onto which slavery had been established (). This action effectively ended any chance for self-government within Indian Territory other than through councils organized under military auspices (). For many Indians it meant becoming fully integrated into newly acquired Anglo society - something they did not want either emotionally or physically
The Shawnee Indian tribe was the original occupants of what is now Kansas. The first European to sight the area in which present-day Wichita, Kansas and Topeka, Kansas would later become was an American Revolutionary War veteran named James Kapp in 1795. He christened the area "Kansas" after his Native Americans' territory in what is now Minnesota. In 1812, a group of Shawnees led by Chief John Overstreet traveled from their home north of Arkansas to this new land and began settling. By 1816, they had built a village on the current site of Wichita. After years of effort by Chiefs John Overstreet and Moses Brown, the Kawaksi River was crossed by wagon road in 1821 and wheat production began in nearby Lawrence County. The arrival of large numbers of black slaves helped fuel growth within Wichita during this period; many white residents viewed these slaves as cheap labor that could be used for little more than subsistence farming. In 1830, Wichita's first post office opened with help from Samuel Greggs; it remained open until1868 when it became part of Topeka.
