There are many types of holster systems available today, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. A holster is a device that attaches to the waistband of a clothing garment, such as a belt, to hold an object temporarily in place while the wearer moves around. Most handguns are locked into holsters by means of a buckle system that clicks into place when the gun is drawn. Other holsters use clips or Velcro straps to secure the handgun to the holster; these systems often require hand movement to release the weapon from the holster. Shawnee is a small town in eastern Kansas, United States. The population was 1,531 at the 2010 census. Shawnee is home to the Shawnee Mission National Monument and the nearby Fort Riley military base. The Shawnee people are an indigenous people who live in east-central Kansas. In 1813, they were forced from their ancestral land by the US government and relocated to what is now eastern Kansas. Today, Shawnees maintain close cultural ties with their traditional homeland. They speak the Shawnee language and share many of their traditions with other Native American nations. In 1821, a group of Shawnees led by Chief Hennepin founded the town of Shawnee on a bluff overlooking the Miami River in what is now east-central Kansas. The town grew rapidly and became known for its fertile land and rich resources, which attracted settlers from all over America. By 1860, Shawnee had reached its peak as a commercial center due to its proximity to Illinois and Nebraska Territory's growing population centers. However, by 1870, economic conditions in east-central Kansas had deteriorated so much that lack of natural resources caused numerous farms to go bankrupt and hundreds of individuals to leave the area; most notably Shoshone Indians who had inhabited this region for centuries before European contact arrived (see also: Longhorn cattle). In 1871–72, local officials organized a series of raids againstUIDO traders operating out of Topeka; these raids helped sparka decade-long conflict between US Indian agents and western traders that culminated in the Treaty of Fort Snelling (1878). This treaty ended hostilities between US Indian tribes and white settlers but did not resolve longstanding grievances among some Indigenous groups such as the Shawnees about encroachment on their traditional lands. A new courthouse was built in downtown Shawnee in 1911; it served as both court house and civic center until it was destroyed by fire in 1978. A new courthouse building was constructed adjacent to present day Civic Center Square in 1991; it has been used as office space since 2011. During World War II, several hundred men from northeast Oklahoma volunteered for service with the Army Air Forces under Operation Overlord; these men worked attached to units stationed at various locations throughout Missouri and central Arkansas while they prepared for combatting Nazi Germany outside Europe (see also: Eastern Front). After VE Day (May 8th), most servicemen returned home but some stayed behind to continue fighting beside American forces during World War III -Operation Overlord II -which began on May 10th 1945 when Japan announced its surrender following months of warfare across Asia Pacific Theatre including Burma/Myanmarand Iraq .

During World War II, many people decided that carrying a handgun openly rather than concealing it under clothes was more safe due to increased bombings and security threats during wartime times. As such, many people transitioned from using animal skins or webbing holster straps to metal hardware devices called “breech clips” which attached directly to rifle stocks (and often carried over existing belt loops) instead. With steel clip rigs becoming increasingly popular during WWII – especially among law enforcement officers – companies like Colt began making Holster attachments specifically for Law Enforcement use called "Commando style" holsters which could accommodate a wider variety of firearms including: Mauser 9mm pistols; .38 Special rounds; 7mm magnum cartridges; 10 mm Luger rounds; .45 ACP rounds etc.
