Gun triggers have a long and varied history in the Shawnee area. From the early days of firearms,Trigger mechanisms were essential to ensuring accuracy and reliability in shots fired from weapons. Today, trigger mechanisms are still used in many firearms, both antique and new alike. The first known Trigger mechanism to be used in the Shawnee area was an axle-driven hammerlock trigger from 1820. This type of Trigger was replaced by a plunger-operated hammerlock trigger around 1830. The plunger operated Mechanism allowed for more consistent firing without having to secure the hammer with a spring or screwdriver. Around 1840, John Auld developed a Hammerlock Lever action Trigger that would become popular throughout Kansas and Nebraska. This Action utilized a lever arm which could be rotated along its vertical axis to prime the firearm. This gave rise to the term “Auld Lever” Trigger terminology for this type of Trigger invention. The use of Lever actions would continue into the 1860s when Charles Goodnight developed his Goodnight Hammerless Pistol Trigger technology based on his earlier work with levers at Kinnaird Arms Armory in 1857-1858. Goodnight's later developments would lead to what is now known as Hammerless Pistols©). In 1865, Samuel Morse invented an electronic Gun triggering system that would revolutionize how firearms were fired across America©). The Crosman Electric Gun Triggers©) were eventually adopted by most American shooters within two decades of their introduction©).

A pull-trigger can be actuated by pulling the trigger back until the hammer falls back into place, or by depressing the trigger finger against the gun's grip. There are also strikerfired pistols and rifles, where the user fires a round by striking a firing pin in one of several places on the weapon's barrel. The round then detonates inside the weapon and causes it to fire. This type of trigger is often called an "off-bore" trigger because it fires rounds off of either side of the bore instead of from within it.

The devices usually consist of a metal or plastic piece that is screwed onto the breechface of the gun, and has a correspondingly small screw at one end that fits into an opening in the triggerguard. When the trigger is pulled, this screw pulls the metal/plastic piece out from under the guard, and allows the firearm to fire.
The first trigger-fired firearms were artillery pieces, such as cannons and muskets. The first triggers were used on these weapons to fire a round the gunpowder magazine. After this, triggers were used for other purposes, such as safety devices and muzzleloading rifles.
Shawnee, Kansas was founded in 1868 by James K. Polk and is a city in Geary County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Shawnee is the county seat of Geary County. The town was named after Shawneetown Township in New York state. The first white settlement in what is now Geary County was made on the east side of the Arkansas River by Reuben Cook in 1839. Cook's group had come overland from Illinois and Indiana Territory. They named their new land "Shawnee" after the Shawnees who lived near them on the Canadian River (now Missouri). A post office called Shawnee was established in 1849, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1861, when Kansas became a Ulysses S. Grant territory, Shawnee Ridge Road—the only direct route between Dodge City and Topeka—was officially opened as part of his trail program to promote western development. In 1865, a village site at present-day Shawnee was selected as the county seat of Geary County; however, no building or resident commenced construction until November 12th of that year when Captains John Wetherbee and Gideon Welliver laid out a frame courthouse with room for 38 inmates and 2 officers within its walls on what is now Main Street. It housed court sessions until 1871 when an addition provided more than enough space for court operations inside the old courthouse while also accommodating additional rooms needed for county administration such as jailing cells etc.–this gave birth to today’s civic center located just off SW 4th St., across from Mayor Rick Lyle’s office! On July 17th 1870 Charles Hutton organized 651 farmers from ten counties into “the Kaw Valley Agricultural Society” which purchased 640 acres southwest of present-day Topeka for $4 per acre – this early instance serving as seedbed for later Grain Belt ethanol production! After years of hard work Shaysville experienced rapid growth due to its location adjacent to then Wichita State University main campus – Shaysville would house one third of all Wichita State students during their early days! Some key pioneer families include: McCormick (Gerrit), Smith (William), Hinebaugh (John F.), Brandt (Hannah), Leach (Jacob)…. Many other families followed over time as various aspectsof agriculture boomed thanks to promotion by railroad companies/promoters like Prentice Eldridge & Co./Kansas Pacific Railroad/Norman Borlaug/etc….. But it really wasn’t until following World War II that much larger endeavors started taking shape including many large Manufacturing Companies such as Rayonier Inc./Litton Industries!/Unilever plc./Frito Lay!/Walmart Stores!/KFC!/PepsiCo!/Jamba Juice!/Oldsmobile
