All three types fired different rounds- The Sporting Rifles fired lead balls while the Colts fired buckshot or ball round(s) These guns were used by Native Americans for hunting game as well as defense against American settlers/ civilians during early days when there was no technology available to protect people from hostile Indians

Shawnee, Kansas is a small town located in Riley County, Kansas. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census and it is the most populous town in Riley County. Shawnee is named after the Shawnee Chief of the Otoe tribe who lived there during the 1800s. The first people to live in Shawnee came from eastern Illinois. They were descendants of the Sauk Indians. In 1853, they moved to what is now Shawnee and began trading with other tribes. They built a log cabin and started farming land that they named "Shawnee." The first school was built in 1855 by local farmers. In 1860, an act was passed Congress that granted land grants to Indian tribes in Kansas. This included Shawnee Township which became part of Riley County on November 3, 1860. In 1871, a post office was founded at Shawnee and remained open until 1907. The first store opened in 1865 at what is now Main Street and continued operation until 1902 when it closed due to economic reasons. A sawmill started operating in 1871 and continued operation until 1978; it produced lumber for buildings up through 1945 when production ended because of World War II). One of the early businesses around here was Mrs Howe's House which operated from 1865-1887 on Main Street near present day US Highway 27 (now Kipling Drive). A brickyard also began operations northeast of downtown in 1870; this functioned as a processing plant for bricks used throughout central Kansas for building purposes from about 1880 onward- including churches and schools (the brickyard closed circa 1960). One important development that took place along this stretch of US Highway 27 near downtown specifically related to agriculture/farming: starting about 1890 or so some sort of machine rollers were installed on large ranches adjacent to certain irrigated wheat fields within city limits where yields had previously been high but then declining prices caused many farms within city limits (and especially east side) abandon irrigation during this time frame making way instead for much smaller parcels watered by hand ditches thru out those same acres becoming home again (or being leased back by original farmstead owners) eventually resulting back into more intensiveial tillage systems today thanks again largely Thanks very much I think our’ Mayor has something we should really talk about
