A number of large companies had their headquarters there such as Sears Roebuck & Company, Jiffy Lube Service Corporation, Ford Motor Company until they relocated elsewhere during the late 1960s when Interstate 35W became concurrent with I-70 linking Kansas City with Chicago through Wichita.
